They should have had the Millennium Falcon crash into the Starkiller base golf course. I was wondering if they made that scene after HF wrecked that nice old PT-22 WW II trainer. I thought it was good, not great. The very end was maybe a bit of a let down. Where was that filmed by the way, with the rock steps going up the mountain? Was some of that Skara Brea? Space Nazis. I hate these guys. View Quote Skellig Rock, of the coast of Ireland. Read up on it, interesting history... Especially in context of the Jedi temple |

Took my mom and brother to see it yesterday. Overall it was a great movie. However it left me with mixed emotions. The plot, basically EPIV, felt like Max Von Shadows character could have been explained better. Of course the Han Solo part left me less than happy, knew it would happen but still sucked. And the ending was such a tease/let down? 30 years I have waited to see Luke and he doesn't even get to speak!
Other than that great movie just felt like the under delivered on the old characters, well except when Chewie goes nuts after the Han scene. |
|
Saw it yesterday with my brother and my 7 year old.
Loved it. The fighter action was very satisfying, and a lot more stormtroopers got smoked. Poe was funny/sharp, looking forward to his character being developed. The weak/out of place part of the movie was the scene on Han Solo's cargo ship, with the gangs and those creatures. Kinda lame. It made me feel like a kid again, something the prequels never did 9/10 |

Imax - saw it 'cause I was bored. I definitely need to give it another watch. I thought it was amazing. I think it moved a little too fast and certain changes made me miss the old star wars like the saber sounds and such but I went in with an open mind and came out just as excited as when it started. The comic relief was laid on a bit heavy but it got me chuckling. I need to see it a few more times before I can even think to rank it against the others but I can tell you now, I'd put it pretty high up on the list.
Really, it was much of exactly what I originally did not want it to be, and that's ok because I liked it, a lot. It's funny, Eps 1-3 seem so foreign to me now. |

Quoted: Amazing. Just amazing. No more overly fetishized planets, no more fulfillment of ideas thought up in the mid 1970s, just a return to great old-fashioned storytelling with heart in a universe we fans know and love. Click To View Spoiler Loved the whole thing. I enjoyed seeing our friends back. I loved what the end portends - an explanation of why Rey can use the Force, and that Luke has to end his little sabbatical on the island and re-join what no doubt will be a new epic struggle. Han .... SUCKER PUNCH. Wow, I felt like the air had been sucked out of the theatre. I heard people crying. I knew when he set foot on that bridge it was going to be bad. The wording of the lines in that scene were genius though. Loved the sound of Kylo's helmet, calling back to Darth Vader. I wanted to hear and find out more about why there were no true Sith (at least named so). I think there is a possibility Snoke is a little dude, just projected big. I didn't like the fairly janky way they reintroduced Han and Chewie... C'mon, this whole massive universe and they happen upon the stolen Falcon? I won't look too deeply into it but that jumped out at me. SO MANY new stories to tell. May the Force be with you all. View Quote They didn't just happen upon the Falcon. They were tracking her. Listen to Han when he talks to Rey about finding a different ship.

The movie was Episode IV redone. Big disappointment. If you had never seen the original New Hope, this would be awesome, but the story was the same. It definitely was. But I loved it for that, and for the fact that it was obviously a retelling, but also completely original. Star Wars does NOT need a remake. AS far as the whole "remake" thing goes, I actually didn't mind at all that the plot was so alike. The whole movie just worked in my opinion.

Casting the new Vader as a skinny goth dude who breaks computers when angry just seemed poor. The real Vader was big, with armor, and killed people. This new little punk just throws a temper tantrum and breaks toys.
Pretty much all the new heroes seemed like crap, like they were kids trying to copy mommy and daddy. Sadly it's a good reflection of modern society. My generation sucks. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Give him time...............If you remember, Vader ( as portrayed in the Phantom Menace and onward) went from a little whiny kid, to a whiny teenager, to an adult with rage issues after Palpatine tells him he kills Padme..........I'd suspect that Ren will develop over time into a purely evil character with the same disregard for life that Vader had

There was a "brown person" X-Wing pilot in RotJ during the attack on Death Star II, as far as I know his name was never mentioned, which is a good thing because it probably would have been Rando given George Lucas' lack of imagination when it comes to names, which would have solidified that the Calrissians are pretty much it. I wonder if JJ might have been throwing a little bone to Kevin Smith by having Finn be a sanitation specialist before donning the stormtrooper uniform.

Quoted: My biggest beef with the story: Click To View Spoiler The villain was way too "angsty", like he was channeling Hayden Christiansen. I would have preferred that he were purely evil, not conflicted and self-doubting. View Quote Click To View Spoiler I think what the writers were attempting to portray here is that Kylo Ren is young, and not fully in control. You see that when Poe Dameron disrespects him on the initial interrogation scene, and when Rey pushes back during her interrogation. Rey calls out Kylo as being all bark and no bite. The earlier tantrums he has when getting bad news allude to his immaturity and general desperation. Contrast that with Kylo's hero infatuation; Darth Vader. Vader was always cool, in control, and confident. (Let's leave aside the films which shall not me mentioned...) I expect in episode 8, Kylo will return as a much more menacing bad guy. |
