I'm on year 6 or 7 with the big stihl pro maul with the guard on it, up north. Big green beech round, say a 16-18+ inch dia piece, it can't split easily, it literally bounces up no matter how hard I swing it the first 5 times. Eventually it gives up going for the sides, not the middle.

Combination of Fiskars Axe, an 8 pound maul, a 6 pound maul, a splitting wedge, an 8 pound sledge, and a Kindling Cracker XL. The Fiskars axe is like cheating. The Kindling cracker is ideal for those smaller rounds that you only have to split in half--give you a nice accurate split. |

I'm also in limbo as I'm just in a rental and will be moving next year if my builder holds up his end. Cleaned up my CS6700 and put a brake cover with side chain adjuster on it. Saw was made in late 90s and runs like new. 67cc and quiet/smooth. Magnesium case, adjustable oiler, good power. I cleaned it well and have a new bar coming. I have neglected it too long, it deserves some TLC.

OK I have a question for all the Stihl heads.
Just picked up another backpack leaf blower, Stihl BR420C and I'm going to need oil for it. From what little oil info I can find, can any TC 2 stroke oil work with it without doing it harm ? Or should I purchase Stihl oil specifically ? I have a hole bunch of Pennzoil TC-3W synthetic blend for my outboard, will it harm this blower if I use it ??? BTW, this thing rocks ! |
