It is not fuel injection per say but rather electronic mixture controlled. It is still a carburetor, autotune works really really well.

Auto tunes do not last long in Bush AK.

Water and shitty fuel do them in.
Plus no real dealer to work on them.

Damn that's sweet, but I was talking about a maul.

I love legacy tools so I'll probably pick up a nice forest axe and maul at some point. I regret not keeping the axes my grandfather had after he passed; would be cool to clean them up, sharpen, and replace the handles.

Monster maul I’ve had for 40 years. Got my moneys worth.

Looks like this. I think I paid about 10-20 bucks back then.

I'm on year 6 or 7 with the big stihl pro maul with the guard on it, up north. Big green beech round, say a 16-18+ inch dia piece, it can't split easily, it literally bounces up no matter how hard I swing it the first 5 times. Eventually it gives up going for the sides, not the middle.

Combination of Fiskars Axe, an 8 pound maul, a 6 pound maul, a splitting wedge, an 8 pound sledge, and a Kindling Cracker XL.

The Fiskars axe is like cheating.  The Kindling cracker is ideal for those smaller rounds that you only have to split in half--give you a nice accurate split.

I filter the fuel going into the 5 gal jug.
Then filter it going into the small mixing jug.
Also filter it again if it sat for any length.

Saw tank gets dumped out every so often.

I live on the river so a lot of moisture in the air.
This summer we had rain almost every day from July to October.
Fucking water in everything.

Just reading about you guys hand splitting is wearing me out.....I think I'll stick with my hydraulic splitter.

I do own multiple axes (mainly wedge beaters) and a maul that gets used more as a sledge hammer than anything.

In my defense, I've hand split all my life.  I'm also in limbo as I'm just in a rental and will be moving next year if my builder holds up his end.

I'll buy a splitter, but there is a lot of stuff where hand splitting will be much faster than the splitter.  Of course I could ball out and get a high end Eastonmade splitter.  If I did that, you wouldn't get me away from the thing.

Cleaned up my CS6700 and put a brake cover with side chain adjuster on it. Saw was made in late 90s and runs like new. 67cc and quiet/smooth. Magnesium case, adjustable oiler, good power. I cleaned it well and have a new bar coming. I have neglected it too long, it deserves some TLC.

Bought an Egan pipe for my little echo 2511p.  Put it on tonight and just had to hear it once before I put applied the gasket sealer to sit overnight.
Dang,  she loud! Like a pack of tiny angry bees
Supposed to be a big gain on the dyno. We'll see how it does for me in the wood later on, but for now the little guy is officially the loudest saw I've ever had, lol including my muff modded 7310 by a long ways.
And at least a bit louder than I remember grandpa's old 10-10 Mac with rusted out muffler ever being

Ok, but just a quick one dissasembled for tonight.
If I get tempted to put it back together right now,  there will be nothing that could possibly stop me from firing it up... not even the guarantee of the wife coming unglued for waking the boy on a school night

From what I've seen Egan report and post the dyno results (performed by Dyno Joe of hmwf prosaws) the pipe was making something like 2.08hp on a stock saw,  which is impressive since Dyno Joe's fully ported and muffler modded was making like 2.45hp IIRC

**I'll look up the numbers reported in a minute and edit if needed

Edited, the stock saw made 1.6hp, the pipe on the same stock saw made 2.05hp for 28% gain.
The fully ported and muffler modded 2511 dyno joe had built made 2.3hp so very impressive for a little bolt on.

Nice.....I've been fighting the urge to buy a top handle.  For the record, I don't climb and have no intention of climbing, but a top handle seems handy for topping trees where you can grab the limb / cut it / throw it out of the way and keep going.  I'm having a hard time justifying the purchase based on that use case though....since I have smaller saws today that I could use for topping.....but generally I drop the tree with my 500i and just start walking up and topping with the 500i.

Point is....I'm still fighting the urge....and your post isn't helping.

That's exactly why I ended up buying the rear handle version 2511p as soon as I saw it in the local shop
I was looking for something small and light for walking the woods trail clearing, limbing, pruning etc.
Probably weighs less than my Dewalt cordless Sawzall (with a battery installed) and is much faster (and much funnerer )
I use it more than I expected on bigger stuff than I expected it's just so light and fun to use.  I use the 7310 with a light 28" on everything else

OK I have a question for all the Stihl heads.

Just picked up another backpack leaf blower, Stihl BR420C and I'm going to need oil for it.
From what little oil info I can find, can any TC 2 stroke oil work with it without doing it harm ?
Or should I purchase Stihl oil specifically ?

I have a hole bunch of Pennzoil TC-3W synthetic blend for my outboard, will it harm this blower if I use it ???

BTW, this thing rocks !

Thanks.
Just said screw it and ordered a 6 pack of 2.6 oz bottles Stihl HP. 20 bucks delivered and will be here tomorrow.
That makes 6 gallons of mix, so I should be good with it for quite some time.

That stuff is for water cooled engines.

Look for any 2 stroke oil with JASO FB or better--preferably FC or FD as it is supposedly 'cleaner'.  FB is just fine though.

Thanks.
Just said screw it and ordered a 6 pack of 2.6 oz bottles Stihl HP. 20 bucks delivered and will be here tomorrow.
That makes 6 gallons of mix, so I should be good with it for quite some time.

But I read something about the echo red armor is a better oil.
Was on a chainsaw site.

Thanks.

I tried a very good air-cooled snogo oil on my saws. They ran hotter and louder so quit using it. Even tried a outboard oil with same problems.

Will use them if it I all I have and would mix at least 40:1.

Thanks. I've been looking in to that sine my last post and some guys are running 40:1 and some are even running 25:1.
I'll pay the piper and run the good stuff at 50:1. (previous owner stated he always ran Stihl oil in it and it does run very well)

Stihl oil.

Word in the trees is to stay away from Stihl silver or platinum (whatever they call it) oil.

I have been using Klotz 50:1 oil, but mix it at 44:1, as that has a nice line on the "Ratio Right" measure cup thingy.

Stihl hp ultra synthetic does not perform very well as you say.

I only use the orange bottle and mix 40:1.
No problems with it.
