Chicago is going through the same thing the Wings did when they stomped the division and got eliminated by a lesser team early. How many times have we as Wings fans seen it? That's not saying the Blackhawks are bad... they just didn't have their heads together at the right time. It now comes down to getting their heads back together three straight. Can it be done? Possibly....
Heck the Detroit Tigers have done it twice in the World Series. On paper they were vastly superior to their opponent and all of a sudden they forgot how to play ball in the World Series. |

There's a saying in baseball that good pitching beats good hitting, and vice versa. In hockey, I think good goaltending beats good offense, period. I don't care how good your offense is, you hit a goalie on a hot streak and you've got problems. Howard is red hot. Even when the Hawks put the puck past him, they hit the posts. Crawford's been fine, but Howard has been great.
Of course, having your captain losing his cool and taking THREE consecutive penalties is seldom going to help your cause. |

Quoted: Quoted: I can't say I'm really surprised that the Wings are giving it to the Hawks. I attribute it to years of good coaching and the organizational atmosphere of winning. Sometimes players/teams have won for so long that, from top to bottom, they just refuse to accept losing. ETA: And then there's Alfredsson I'll share my thoughts on it after the Wings' playoff run is over. I must admit it is strange position to be in as a fan - they've been so good, so long, that they've been prohibitive favorites. It's interesting - and a little nerve wracking (as a fan) - to be on the underdog side of it. I think I mentioned before, now I know what the Coyotes and other underdog teams felt like playing the Wings in years past - the Hawks are so good it's like they are the Wings of old. Which is no surprise given that it's a Bowman built team. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. Hopefully it is after the Pens beat the Wings in a game 7 though |

Some good stuff coming from the Sens
Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris 43m Erik Karlsson says he hasn't seen a team as good as the #pens since he played video games as a kid. Paul MacLean on the #pens: "I hope they don't bill us for the clinic." |

God that was so frustrating. Like a 4 year stretch the Wings kept winning the top seed and kept losing in the 1st or 2nd round. So I don't take any of that seeding to heart like I used to... |
