Wait, do you need a stripped pistol lower for this kit? here in Michigan, we have to register our pistols, under the guise of a "safety inspection." so when it's mentioned that an AR receiver is made as a pistol, sometimes that is the case. Also know that, once a rifle, always a rifle; the receiver can't be repurposed into a pistol (unless you make it an SBR, so that's a different story), so make sure whomever you get the stripped lower from, marks it as just a receiver. |

Alright you bastards, I bought one. This place costs me a fortune.

Quoted: No, it means that this is an non-chromed, non-nitride treated bore. It is a bare steel bore. This isn't the worst thing in the World. RRA barrels are unlined and many of those are holding up just fine after tens of thousands of rounds. However, if you are asking yourself how PSA can offer this package so cheap, this is part of your answer. I am sure this barrel will serve most people just fine. However, if you have your heart set on being "mil-spec" (chrome-lined) or having the wear resistance of Melonite/nitride treatment inside and out then this may not be the barrel you are looking for. Phosphate is a generic term for the metal finish also known as Parkerizing, which is commonly applied to carbon steel firearms parts and is the milspec finish for the steel parts of M16/M4 rifles. Also in the description is the term "chrome-moly", which is a description of the type of steel used for the barrel. CM or CMV are the typical types of non-stainless steels used for firearms barrels. What is significant is what is NOT there - the barrel is not "chrome lined", nor is it nitrided. (the nature of nitride is that it's both an external as well as bore finish for barrels, there is no way to apply it selectively). So you have a barrel where the bore is bare steel. Zillions of guns have been made that way, people just have to know and take appropriate action - ie, clean and oil the bore for storage. Quoted:
Quoted:
Basically, just a fancy word for Parkerizing. Used on steel parts for corrosion resistance - The aluminum parts are usually hard-anodized instead. It's not possible to Parkerize/phosphate finish aluminum. Also not possible to apply it to stainless steel. |

Fuck, guess I'll call them first thing Monday to see if they'll change it to the FDE one. Ordered the black one...didn't look to see what other ones (colors) they had. Will get painted anyway, so not that big of a deal.

I had to get in on this action. Perfect for a "truck gun" and while out on my little piece of land.
FYI- I have a non-chrome lined 16 inch. It's a good shooter. If you plan on putting enough lead downrange to burn out a non-CL barrel, then you own't have a problem spending a hundred or two to rebarrel the gun when needed. You'll have a lot more in spent ammo. |

Was going to hold off on a lower, but what good is a kit without one
So for $300 (plus $15 for the lower transfer fee), you can get a complete pistol shipped. Already have a rear sight. You know, these are great times we are living in. |
