I am fed-up and sick to death with stupid know-it-all millenials who keep slagging the 1911. Just because you own an I-phone and just because you used the said I-phone to create a You Tube channel does not make a firearms expert.
And most of these idiot millenials have never even seen a proper 1911. That is to say an all steel forged pistol without parts made of bubblegum or metal injected molded scrap metal. Here's a properly fitted 1911. It will feed and extract empty cases and it goes "boom" every time.

Norinco actually makes a decent 1911. We can't get them any longer, but the ones that are here are pretty well regarded, and they make excellent bases for custom guns. IIRC there were some with headspace issues, though.
Also, you can bitch at Colt for lots of things, but their 1911s are still GTG.

Yeah the problem with 1911's is there's so many different manufacturers of it, and many do a shit job of making them. But a properly tuned 1911 is every bit of reliable as a modern gun. My first 1911 sucked, Springfield Loaded. I built a custom 1911 myself and it's amazing. Of course it takes a lot of skill to build a good 1911. But once you do, then you'll fully understand how it works and how to keep it running well. But that's way too much work for most people. Just give them a Glock or something stupid simple.
