I have heard so many horror stories about Land Rover vehicles it’s insane.
Wife wanted one.. nope. |

Boss's wife had one. They had a loaner half the time they owned it.

The British have no concept of electricity or quality control. A fool and his $$$ are soon parted.....

At least Ford tried to make the Bronco look like a early Bronco.
And they certainly did a better job than Land Rover did with that thing |
|
It has some cool features. But it is way too expensive and complicated for an off-roader. The wheel tire combo also has me scratching my head. It was rather funny when TFL blew two tires back to back because they pinched the sidewall trying to go over a tiny rock.

Go watch the The Fast Lane series on the new Land Rover they bought to test out. I'd buy pretty much anything else before I bought one of those fucking things.

Would make a great vehicle to tow your Alfa Romeo when it breaks down.

Is that wood considered part of the frame or the body on your British vehicle? |

I'd buy a Bronco over that any day of the week. Or a new V8 Wrangler.

Tell me you've never owned a Rover without actually telling me.
Inevitably it will suffer numerous problems and be traded off after 3 years for 15-20k, a sure sign of quality. Do yourself a favor- buy a used one, fix it up, then pay to keep it on the road until it pisses you off enough to sell it. You'll save a substantial amount of money doing this and learn the same lesson. Or don't. Rovers out their owners better than almost any other vehicle. ETA: I wish this was an exaggeration. After driving tens of thousands of individual cars...it's not. |

I have no idea why they gave that line the Defender name. It should be a Discovery.
|
|
It really IS a good looking vehicle.
Too bad it’s a serious POS. |

View Quote Even though their videos are super click-baity, it's worth watching. They really want it to work out too, no one else would polish that turd as hard. I guess one for three ain't bad. |

That looks like a morbidly obese incest child of a Honda CR-V and Jeep Liberty getting trespassed from an all you can eat buffet at closing time.
|
|
The tail lights don’t go with the vehicle and the gaudy plastics on the front and back look cheap.
|
|
Are the MIL lights and oil leaks an option?
It'll be worth 15k in 8 years. |

Quoted: I have heard so many horror stories about Land Rover vehicles it’s insane. Wife wanted one.. nope. View Quote Wrong, as long as you PROPERLY SERVICE THEM (actually taking them to Land Rover mechanic, not a dealer or jiffy lube etc), they will serve you well. I bought a 2007 RR sport brand new in 07, 133k miles, got at least another 75k in her. Fuck the haters. |
|
The only guy I knew who owned a Land Rover got so fed up with it he traded it in a 4runner.

They are pretty sweet. I certainly wouldn't take one over a Bronco though.
|
|
The TFL trail test of it compared to the new Bronco and a Jeep JL was an utter disappointment.
More Freelander, less D90. I see tons of them on the road here, many with the bougie looking overland gear on them (the Rover pod is common). Knowing they are more suited for snow and dirt roads then they are any real wheeling keeps them in the same position they have always occupied for me. Kinda cool to look at but I would never buy one. |
|
If I’m buying a Defender, it’s the old school four door 110. Maybe with the side mounted seats in the back.
I want something I can drive across Africa if it says Land Rover. |
|
They are small. If KIA had a upscale off shoot (Lexus>Toyota) then the Defender is what their SUV would look like. They are nice on the inside.
old school four door 110 View Quote Which is exactly what they should have done al la Merc G550, Ford Bronco. They could have had the heritage edition and the luxury touring edition. |
|
I'll be the contrarian and say that that's a sharp looking mini ute. You would never catch it in my driveway because I would never be so stupid as to purchase a Rover for my wife. Sharp looking chick ute though.

Ugly IRL. Maybe with the right colors and options, but the ones I've seen look bloated and weird.
I'll wait for this guy's review. 2021 Ford Bronco review!!!!! |
|
My wife's friend got a 2 door a couple months ago, and she had to turn around on the way home from the dealer. The nav screen/infotainment screen had already crapped out 20 min into owning it.
