From what I've been told, the President can authorize a nuclear strike, but he cannot order a strike. Is this right?

I wonder if a president asked," does that thing really work?" Let me pick up the hand set and say hello. You know a president has joked about it. "Let me try to talk to someone."

FPNI.
It's a big button. Bigger than anyone else's. But he can handle it. |
|
I'm not an expert on the subject, but as I understand it, POTUS certainly can order a nuclear strike. When he issues the order, all that's left to be done is to confirm that said order is authentic. He's the commander-in-chief for a reason, and that reason is not to offer suggestions.

Don't be taken in so easily by a contrived graphic.

He's the guy we want to push it when it needs to be done. O, HRC, GWB, BC, etc, I wouldn't expect much from in that department

I'm glad someone is finally there when an American First attitude, and he's delivering. ETA: We were the first, and only, nation to deliver not one but two nuclear weapons. In order to end (in my opinion) the second greatest conflict the world had ever seen. Just because everyone else has nukes doesn't mean our threat isn't there. I'm glad we're standing up for ourselves again. (After saving the modern world twice) |

I think clintons running back lost him between a McDonalds run or something like that.

It would be awesome if Trump gave an entirely unrelated Oval Office address to the nation and sitting there on the desk was a comedy red button, but he never mentions North Korea or nukes a single time. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71m2NvJyIVL.png View Quote |

Little Known Fact:
When Obama was in office, Biden's case just held an actual football. Nerf, I believe. They figured he wouldn't know any better. |

They keep making a big deal about how it must be a "legal" order and how the military would refuse to carry out an "illegal" order from the President, as if it would have to be run through the Supreme Court or something.
Yeah, I'd imagine if the President said "C'mon boys, let's nuke Nashville today." there would be some discussion, but other than that... |
|
Of course the Left Media has made "How unstable he is. We can't trust nuclear destruction with THAT MAN with his finger on the button" it's cry...
Then trotting out some retired shill to say that the "Military would stop Trump" if he illegally ordered them to blow up the world... However the Media had no issues with a known sexual predator like Bill Clinton for his 8 years... (except the Red Republican Meanies just wouldn't leave draft dodging socialists Billy Boy & Hillary alone with that ol' Special Prosecutor thing and indictment for impeachment) But Saint Bill Clinton boldly stood up and wagged his finger at us all on National TV and looked millions of suckers straight in the eye and said "I did not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinski..." and Hillary Stood By Her Man... Because otherwise she wasn't going to get her turn at the Presidency... and look how THAT turned out... BIGGER_HAMMER |

@limaxray described the nuclear order process here a couple months ago. Said something like it was the shortest military Chain of Command in the world.
Rather than me trying to repeat it from memory, let's see if we can get him to come in here and describe it. |

we really do need to modernize our warheads. and since the Soviet Union no longer exists, we should go back to full MIRV delivery systems.

View Quote By treaty we have up to 1550 operationally deployed strategic nuclear weapons ready to go. Those are defined as weapons either A) in the igloos at bomber bases, B) mated to intercontinental ballistic missiles, or C) mated to submarine launched ballistic missiles. So, up that by 50%. |

Waiting for Steve Bannon to chime in here, and claim that he authorizes the nuke strikes.
