I will miss it if I can safely do so without getting rear-ended. I don't swerve at speed for animals or things in the road. Check the mirror, brake and go 'round.

I don't care for snakes. I've found if you don't mess with them, they won't with you. Everyone stay cool and go about your business. I've run across some huge rattlers here. Mutual respect. |

I'd do as I've always done, get out and move it off the road.
Poll fail. |
|
My granfather taught me to hit the breaks and skid over it as to not only injure it.
At least with rattlers |
|
If no traffic, I'd likely pull over, pick it up and let it go in the grass. He's just makin' a livin' same as I am.
|
|
If I can safely stop, I'll move it off the road in the direction it was pointed. If not, snake dies. I like snakes but I'm not totaling my car or getting killed for one.
|
|
If on a farm road, ID it then form plan from there. On the highway, it's the snake's call what happens.

I do not intentionally run over ANY critter.........I have been known to stop and move turtles to the roadside,in hopes they avoid getting squashed.

The big black snakes in my area are harmless at worst, beneficial at best. I'd miss him if it wouldn't put me in danger. View Quote If I see one on the road I live on, I'll get out and move it off the road. |

I leave them alone. I have a six foot Indigo that lives around my house. Indigos eat rattle snakes.

When i was a boy (and didn't know better) i had a predudice toward snakes and would kill them all on sight.
A very large rat snake now hangs around my barn and I've left rattlers be on trails. I did warp a kayak paddle last year while fishing a creek...Senior Water Moccosin swimming on to the bow of my yak was a line he should not have crossed. :) I would nit run over it unless it was unavoidable. |

Stop on top of it and do a burn out. If I see one, it's dead.

Got bitten by a black snake years ago. After tetnus and rabies shots fuck it...its dead.

I try to miss them. Snakes just being snakes and all.
Now my neighbor killed a black snake some years ago and hung it on the barb-wire fence as a warning to the other snakes. |

Had this scenario happen last year with a big copperhead.
He ziggy when he should have zagged. Giant triangle head. Probably a good 2 inches fat. I didn't even feel bad as it was across the road from a house with kids shit in the yard. |

They kill rodents with the sheer strength of their bite. One person I used to talk with on kingsnake.com said his one indigo bite hurt more than a copperhead envenomation. |

Assuming I could safely pull over I would move it off to the side. They are good snakes; I see one around the house every once in a long while and it makes me happy |

Large = long - miss it if I can
Large = short but really thick- running that fucker over and maybe backing over it a few times if I can. |

So based on the survey results, almost 1/3 of GD is a bunch of pussies who are afraid of and hate snakes.

Venomous snakes get the mudgrip massage. Non-venomous snakes in the road I will dodge if I can do it safely.
Any snake in my yard/barn/shop/chicken coop gets dead right there. |
|
I dodged a tarantula the other day so I would dodged a snake.
|
|
I'm not going to change my path for a snake. If the snake is in the wrong place at the wrong time it dies. If not, then it lives. Let God's will be done, haha

Just 20 minutes ago I came to a complete stop to let a group of ducks cross the road.
True story. |
