I don't know the actual numbers, but when you have (I'm not sure) as many assholes in spy agencies as Infantry divisions, you don't have a free country anymore.

Quoted: DHS is literally redundant and pointless. It was a reaction to govt security agencies not coordinating as much as legally possible in the run up to 9/11, but doesn’t include the two main agencies that failed at the time, the FBI and CIA. View Quote DHS is largely responsible for enforcement of immigration and customs laws (CBP at the border, ICE on the interior, and USCIS for immigration benefits). Other major components include USSS, TSA, FPS, and USCG. Please tell me what other agencies outside of DHS do those things. While I agree it is a massive and bureaucratic department, it is hardly redundant. Pointless is a matter of opinion. If you want open borders then I suppose DHS is pointless. Coordination with other agencies has been resolved. Hell, that consumes half my work day. You don’t need to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic to improve coordination. Just talk to each other. |

I’m conflicted, ACLU are commies but I wouldn’t mind getting rid of a few agencies like this and the ATF View Quote DHS isn't an agency. It is a Department that is comprised of numerous agencies including the US Secret Service, Coast Guard, ICE, CBP/Border Patrol, and many others. BATFE isn't part of DHS. It is part of the Department of Justice. I guess you're fine with getting rid of ICE, Border Patrol, and Coast Guard, among numerous other agencies. Like you already said, that idea fits right in line with exactly what the communists want. No more protection/security for the president or the White House, open borders, free movement of illegal and all other aliens into, around, and all over the US as well as ability to openly work at every job they want with no fear of deportation ever, and no Coast Guard to patrol the coasts. Good luck with that, Comrade. |

Obviously in this thread, a little known fact is that Department of Homeland Security Investigations, better known as the HSI, or the former ICE Investigations, is the lead LE agency for human trafficking / child trafficking / child sex trafficking and everything related to kiddie porn. Guess we don't need to enforce those laws, either.

We raided stash houses with them and they had no clue how to process aliens once they took them into custody. I remember helping one of them after they arrested an alien with a firearm, and he could not recall whether federal firearms violations fell under title 8 or title 18. Granted, it wasn’t the agency that made them suck, it was their desire to screw around all day that made them suck. That said, for every turd ICE/HSI agent I personally know, there are 2-3 good ones. The agency rebrands itself every Tuesday and branches out into a new enforcement category every Wednesday. They don’t need to be abolished. They need to refocus. I worked a child porn case with them about 10 years ago and their agent was actually awesome. The case was horrendous and made me want to hurt people in the worst way. I was glad to have a partner on the case who did such a good job and we secured a conviction. |
