Why is it always AR or AK? I can shoot the dicks off of a hundred skeeters at once with a nice pump 12 gauge
AK though just because I would hate to worry about rusting an AR parts |

probably an AR. I wouldn't complain if I ended up with the AK, though. |

They have jungles in Arizona and Alaska?

Jungle?
The Kalash. '47 The heavier bullet would be nicer in an environment as dense as the jungle anyway. |

People who think the AK will be more reliable need to google rust. AKs are parked just like an AR and you should see what a jungle can do to aluminum if you think rust is all you have to worry about. |

What are the indigenous population using? I will go with that.

Sawyer water filter, gallon of 100% deet, machete, gortex boots, salt tablets, chlorine tablets and a mosquito net. Then maybe if I was lucky I wouldn't die of malaria or have my feet rot off. But I probably would get stung or bit by some critter.

99% of people responding here have never handled an AK, 50% dont even have an AR. A lot of folks that dislike AKs on this board have only ever handled parts-kit guns cobbled together by crack-addled monkeys. |

Well I imagine in a third world country Ak-47 ammo is easier to come by, so ak. I'd vote this as well. |

Quoted: But seriously Kola King, I think I'd have to go AK on this one even though I think they belong in the garbage can too. Fact is if I'm going to be stranded in a foreign country in a jungle, I rather have the auto that requires the least amount of maintenance and shoots common ammo to the country I'd be in, regardless of its inferiority AKs need maintenance. They also break themselves at preposterous rates. Why would a jungle have more 7.62x39? What if its South American Jungle? Lots of 5.56 and .308 round them parts.

Depends on what country.
I trust the DI Ar15 more than any other gun out there. |

AR. They're reliable. Spent a year in Iraq, never did anything more than knock the crud off and oil it. Never failed. My AR15's? Never clean them. They never fail. With a username like yours......I am not shocked.. Remind me to stay upwind of you |

AKs need maintenance. The AK will fire more catridges than you're likely to acquire in a jungle (and a hell of a lot more than you want to carry) before it "needs" maintenance, but only a fool fails to care for a weapon on which he's relying to stay alive. |

Personally I think (AR)kansas would be better than AlasKa(AK). lol Nah, less people in Alaska. It's colder there. Cannibals don't like the cold. |

AR. Plug a cannibal at 200-300M a couple times and they will not fuck with the juju man ever again.

Ammo is everywhere, it's light so you can carry a lot of it, and at those distances a rifle isn't going to have as much of an advantage WRT range as it otherwise would. Also the gun and caliber are easy to suppress, something that important for folks that want to not die while doing their best rendition of Rambo. |

After one year the only thing an AR would be good for is bayonet charges. AK all the way.
