The current administration moving branches out of DC and to the areas they're responsible for overseeing is EPIC. Guess they're doing this with the BLM too, booting them from DC and spreading the office types out around the shitty parts of the west, forcing them to interact with the people vs be disconnected in DC. Heaven forbid they have to move around like military families. My ex wife got so sick of it, she became my ex wife. I guess every 2 - 3 years takes it's toll, right?

People in the private sector deal with that all the time (often with no offer of a job at the new location) and no one writes news stories about it.

Either move to KC or lose your cushy made up sounding gov job. But don't bitch about it. That's life. Now if we could only relocate every .gov fed job to a different state. |

Kansas City is a great to place to live and about time the USDA be in the Heartland. BBQ, ag, great hunting, pretty conservative, great gun laws in KS and MO, lots of outdoor stuff, great metro area with tons to do. Those people are whining.
As to pay, while the geo pay is not as high as DC, I would be willing to bet that you can still live better than you could in the DC area. I work for a federal agency and if I left KC to a place like DC, NYC, SF, etc., even though my pay would go up a lot, my level of income would not be equal to what living in Kansas City makes. |
|
I don't understand how anyone would pick DC over KC. You could actually drive from KC to Saint Louis in about the same amount of time it takes to commute from most parts of NOVA to DC.

Other studies cite the 0.6% claim while a different article in Wikipedia on gender dysphoria states that "about 0.005% to 0.014% of people assigned* male at birth and 0.002% to 0.003% of people assigned* female at birth would be diagnosed with gender dysphoria". The real percentage probably lies somewhere in between those extremes. *Interesting choice of words for saying you were born a boy or girl like there was some sort of action that could have magically "reassigned" your gender. |

I actually don't blame them. About 20 years ago my company transferred me to KS from my beloved state of AZ - I was devastated. It only took me 18 months to find a job back in AZ. I did find out that the best point in KS is the geographical center - because from there every direction you go you are leaving!!! View Quote |

Morons. When they sell their homes in DC, their money will go sooooo much further in KC and it's environs.
And, because of the relative traffic congestion, they'll be able to live a lot further out in the sticks. Definitely a +++ in quality of life all the way around. ETA: when we were going to build the Superconducting Super Collider, I was faced, in 1993, with a similar quandary. Move 20~60 miles south of Waxahachie, Texas or continue to live in Aurora Il. ya, tough choice. moron popinjay fops. |

I’m honestly shocked the fake news hasn’t made articles about Trump destroying lives and families when Uncle Sam makes folks move. “OMG Airman Snuffy’s wife had to find a new Jodi after having to PCS from Airbase kick ass to Minot”.

I live in rural southeast Kansas now, but I spent a lot of my life in Kansas City, Missouri. My parents still live there. North of the river in Platte county, very nice area. It has everything you need, lots of entertainment, but it’s still solidly conservative. Represented by Republicans on every level, it feels very middle American. Both Kansas and Missouri are GTG free states, constitutional carry in both states, no stupid gun laws. KC is still a little urban for my tastes, but I’m a hick so... .
All told, Kansas City is a very solid town. I’m an avid outdoorsman, and Kansas and Missouri have some of the best hunting and fishing in the country. Being in the middle of America, where agriculture is so important, I think this is a great call for the USDA to move to Kansas City. |

Trump's far from perfect, but, unlike his immediate predecessors, he's done some damn fine things. This is one of those.

You move to where the work is. I’m in the process of my 3rd relo in 10 years. Selling and buying a house at the same time. Again I am amazed at the griping of public employees about shit that happens to those in the private sector constantly.
