Very much do, this is target practice stash. The stuff I worry about is buried. We'll be right out to locate your stash. Before we dig, do you have any water mains in the area? Sincerely, The Feds. |

I have 4 rounds of .22 mag in my NAA pistol. Had to use one on a sick animal or I'd still have 5 rounds.
|
|
Storing over 100 rounds in the same place is dangerous. I just buy a box of 20 on my way to the range and that lasts me 2 or 3 deer seasons.
|
|
I don't have much. To be honest it's my opinion that you don't need tens of thousands of rounds. I would be happy with 1000 of rifle, 1000 of pistol and 500 of buckshot ammo.

What do you have in your personal horde? Seems the good old days of cheap spam cans are long gone. With most of the lead smelting plant closures in the states to EPA restrictions passed during the last 8 years, and the restrictions on ammo importations I wanted to gauge everyone's stockpiles. I have limited my shooting with 7.62x39/5.56/308 the last few years just in case we get another 8 years of low supply Personally here's my list: 1500 Winchester .45 3000 Golden tiger 7.62x39 2000 Wolf MC 7.62x39 2000 Wolf MC 5.56 1200 Winchester 308 300 Romanian 8mm View Quote Your stockpile would get me through about 8-12 carbine courses and 1-2 pistol courses, leaving the 8mm in reserve (who wants to take a Hakim to a carbine course?!) |

I've been doing some scuba diving all over the US. You wouldn't believe how much ammo I've been finding in sunken boats.
|
|
I have half a magazine of 9mm in my carry pistol. To poor to be able to afford a full magazine much less stockpiles of ammo.

At the moment my "horde " is rather pathetic
600 rounds 556 177 rounds 9mm 200 rounds 22lr I plan to add a 12 gauge next month |
|
i have about 700 rnds of 9mm(because i shoot pistol competitions)
maybe a couple hundred rounds of .223 to shoot paper at 100yds(i dont shoot rifle much) and a box of bird shot ive never had that much ammo in my life... |

I have a ghost gun with a .30-caiber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second. Thirty magazine clip in half a second.

if, and I mean if, I owned any guns - which are icky, by the way, I'd want at least 2-3K rounds of ammo for each caliber I'd own, then I'd want additional ammo for practice.
I'd also want reloading dies and supplies for each of those calibers. but that's all just theoretical, since guns are icky and I don't actually own any. |

I have just 3 rounds. I am told the sound of a racking shotgun will scare off any intruders though. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn38/rccox/null-75.jpg View Quote That guy sets up at the shows around here. Interesting duck. |

The lead plant closure has nothing to do with lead for bullets.
Just more manufacturers switching to plastic and zinc wheelweights, and garages getting exclusive contracts to sell their scrap to certain companies. And some scrapyards not selling to individuals. |

I recommend a three-year's supply of whatever you will actually use.
Anything more than that, and realize that you are probably just storing it for somebody else. While you might make a (very) small profit selling it later, you might reasonably question why you are bothering storing ammo any more than why you would store blue jeans in common sizes. One day you will move. Moving all that ammo, or trying to sell it in the midst of a move, truly sucks in almost every example. |
|
I have more than I probably need. Not quite as much as I really want.
|
|
I think the .38 has six rounds in it still, I'd better go home and count

No, I sold everything that I owned before moving out of the United States. ETA: I'm telling the truth, but yes, the joke was intended. |

Buy cheap, stack deep! Joke, Mr. StaSi! http://www.guns.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/ammo-stockpile1.jpg View Quote This reminds me of the scene in RED when John Malkovich looks into Bruce Willis` storage locker of guns, ammo, and RPGs and says, " I love you man!" |

Pretty sure I saw a .22LR round rollling around in the bed of my truck the other day.
