NASCAR suspends Kyle Larson indefinitely for racial slur in online race

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR star Kyle Larson used a racial slur on a live stream during a virtual race and has been suspended by NASCAR and without pay by Chip Ganassi Racing.

Larson was competing in an iRacing event when he appeared to lose communication on his headset with his spotter. He said during a check of his microphone “you can’t hear me?” That was followed by the N-word.

Larson is half Japanese and his grandparents spent time in an interment camp in California. He is the second driver in a week to draw scrutiny while using the online racing platform.

Larson issued an apology on Twitter Monday morning.

"I just want to say I'm sorry. Last night I made a mistake and said the word that should never, ever be said and there's no excuse for that. I wasn't raised that way, it's just an awful thing to say," Larson said in part.

How dumb to think you can freely use that word, or variations of, and think its not gonna bite you in the ass.

I dont think it makes you a racist, and shouldnt ruin your career.
But a lot people do, and they will blow up your life over it.
Theres so many other better cuss words anyway.

He wasn't, he was trying to set up his spotter, one of his good friends. He didn't realize it was being broadcast to the whole race group. He was just fucking with his friend and now he may be out of a ride. It sucks for him.

Is this the official policy of arfcom now? If there's a 3 hour video posted with one racial slur in it, it's a bannable offense now? It seems painfully obvious this is news and not just some dickhead posting a video of a guy screaming the N word.
