Sometimes a drink of whiskey sounds good, but I have too much respect for alcohol to get back into it right now.
Drunk people annoy the hell out of me now. I do really enjoy waking up without hangovers. |

For some reason the only time I feel like drinking is out and about in places like casinos or that kind of scene.
|

I had alcohol for the first time in a long time, last night.
Argued with my mother and wife soon after. I apologized....alcohol isn’t for me anymore. It’s what killed my dad. I have to stay away from the stuff. |
|
I caught a big whiff of hand sanitizer and had a "I use to drink way worse than that" moment.
I recognize this situation would be so much worse if my life were in the shape it was when I was drinking. I'm not going back to that hell. |

Sixteen and a half years, think about it all the time. Gin and Tonic would be nice. Not worth it.

14+ years and "I" still haven't found a good reason to take a drink, yet. Call a buddy, exercise, watch porn.... anything; but a drink. Tomorrow, you will be glad you stayed sober.

There seems to be a seasonal element. I've been doing dry january for years and sometimes it goes 3-6 months. When daylight savings time returns so does my desire to drink which somewhat intensifies as the year progresses and especially when the days get shorter in the fall. Then I get sick of it again by the time new years rolls around and start the cycle over.
Stay strong OP. Your body is lying to you when it tells you it needs a drink. |

I still want to drink and smoke.
I know a thousand rationals for "I can control it", I know that that is only an excuse. I sometimes plan to buy some booze and cigars, but I but ammo first. I have to find a reason not to drink or smoke every day... ... usually that reason is simply not posting stupid shit on this site... |

I went 294 days without drinking. Ended my streak a few nights ago, had a casual evening at home with the wife. It was a nice - and much needed - date night for us but I don’t miss drinking. I don’t miss the foggy head and don’t enjoy alcohol like I used to. Even the inebriation is an off-putting sensation. I thought I’d have a new-found appreciation for fine alcohol after a long abstinence - nope. The opposite. I was pretty unimpressed with my previously-impressive Balvanie 14yr Caribbean cask.
At least for me, the alcohol wasn’t satisfying but the time with my wife was. Best to keep my nose clean for this lady. Booze went right back in the cupboard for some other time. |

Don't do it, Guys! You can make this! If you can stay clean through this horseshit, you can stay clean through almost anything.
Drinking NOW is the worst decision you can make. THIS is the time to stay sober as all hell!!!! |

If you’ve struggled with alcohol, you can GUARANTEE that your current situation will get infinitely worse by going back to drinking. I don’t struggle with it like others do and I’m still choosing a diet A&W over a cold beer right now. Why do this to yourself? Why go back? |

No more than the usual random urges still. I considered adding some alcohol to the preps to bolster the supply of sanitizer, but decided against it. Just don't even want it in the house.

Every single day.
I even had a dream last night where I drank. I’m almost at a month. I decided to quit drinking at a PERFECT time to day drink for a month or two. But I didn’t drink today, and I reckon I won’t drink tomorrow either. Probably. |

Last night I was a former drinker. And the night before that, and the night before that...

Don't give up your sobriety.
I've been clean & sober for 38 years and have never wanted to drink or drug in that time. I pray every day. |

4 years 1 month and 1 week without. Paid to much of a price to get to where I am today. I have no interest in going back to that misery.

no i had two back in january ill be good for another year or two. Im not an alcoholic, doesnt really do much for me anymore. I guess i got it all out of my system when i was younger. No good decisions are made while drinking and it cost $. And im a cheap skate.

I never started drinking

A ton of expertise in here.
I'd like to ask how you guys did your FIRST day. |

It has crossed my mind more than once. Tomorrow. April 1, will be 2 years smoke free. And I forget how many alcohol free. Though I may never be free from it. I took too many years trying to quit for me to finally get to where I am today. I just got back from a walk outside.
Nope, not today. Stay strong to you all. Boredom is my worst enemy. |

I think I stoped drinking 5 years ago, didnt drink much but just got tired of it, if I wanted a drink I'd have one, but zero desire.
Many of my close friends have had drinking issues over the years, only a few still drink. |

Nope. Work is to busy right now, don't have the time. Maybe when all this drama slows down I will enjoy a session with some bourbon.

Yesterday was day 90 of my "dry January" sobriety journey. Wife still drinks...

I quit when I retired 12/31/18 and have not had a drink since. I know that drinking would not improve this situation at all. I can say that I have really no desire for alcohol. My wife keeps wine in the house and I used to enjoy a glass or six of Cabernet but it just does not appeal to me.
