Obviously you're totally ignorant of how any federal (or other) law enforcement agencies function. The FBI Director is just a manager. He functions to communicate and coordinate policies between the agency and the president, congress, and the public. The job of conducting investigations is left to the Special Agents (criminal investigators) and specifically the assigned Case Agent who conducts and coordinates the investigation (with limited supervision from his direct Supervisory Special Agent). The termination of Comey will have zero effect on the investigation because Comey doesn't have anything to do with the actual investigation. He will receive updates from the SSA and ASAC, but, generally stays out of the investigation. Now, Comey, as the Director, can theoretically derail the investigation by cutting off resources, reassigning the case to a different Special Agent, ordering the case closed, or doing something else creative in sabotaging the investigation. But, the president cannot derail an investigation. The president can't fire or reassign the Special Agent investigating the case or order the case be closed. The president can fire the appointed management personnel at FBI and that's about all he can do. Except, that he can have influence over the appointed personnel at the DOJ and if they cooperated with that influence they could kill the prosecution of any case presented to them for prosecution by FBI or any other federal agency. This is all extremely unlikely. Obama and his corrupt officials have been swept from office so this level of corruption is unlikely (except for left over Obama remnants that haven't been exposed to the light of day yet). |

OP, youre on to something....I would think that with the unlimited manpower and resources available to them, the almost limitless authority, and even though Comey put on an air of no sense of urgency, traveling about, visiting with colleagues, attending social functions, making appearance like he was a rock star, I'm sure behind the scenes it was a fervor of activity, warrants, wiretaps, informants, international travel, interrogations, photographs on walls with strings going every which way like abstract art, moles being called upon after years of posing as a shoe cobbler, or a hot dog vendor on the sidewalk outside of the kremlin...and maybe not this week, or even next month, but just biding their time, maybe even 20 years from now, when Trump, after making yet another appearance signing books at one of his self financed presidential libraries, stops at a small bar and orders a 'Belyee' Russian, and out comes Comey and his boys in the blue raid jackets...Comey takes off of his raybans and as he's putting the cuffs on says something like in America we order a 'white' russian
