Local one is still going. They have not been able to compete with Mazzios though. There is a waitress that has been there for like 33 years or some such, so I still go there occasionally to support her, she is just really nice but it has been probably a year. View Quote I used to drive twenty miles once every couple of weeks to eat lunch at a Pizza Hut because the waitress was so nice. She honest-to-God hit the lottery and quit and I haven't been back since. I'll get one from the take-out place once in a while if I have a coupon. |

I got foiled again today. I was all hungry for some Pizza Hut lunch buffet so I decided to make the drive to one of the last ones fairly close-by only to reach an abandoned restaurant and find out they were closed for business. Papa John must be putting the hurting on them. View Quote All of the restaurants are closing up, yes---but we still have a bit of delivery/carry-out only places in mini-malls. Their propensity of serving pan-fried, buttery goo that masquerades as slimy pizza---ensures that I will always call Papa John's. |

I'm not sorry to say it. Good. We have two decent places in a 50 mile radius. One is a south side of Chicago greasy pizza, out of a family owned and ran for 50 years place, the other is a lady who does true deep dish, in real brick ovens, she got the recipe for her dough from an old Italian guy who sold her the ovens. Since Pizza Hut went away, Domino's closed and Little Cesar's is almost dead, she opened a second location, and both places are doing well, as well as offering lunch specials for about the same price, and it's leaps and bounds better than the chain places. Capitalism works sometimes. View Quote Toppers reminds me of Pizza Hut from like 15 years ago when they didn't suck. |

Pizza Hut isn't even on my radar, as it sucks so hard.
The real tragedy is that there isn't a Pizzeria UNO within 50 miles of me anymore, which is sad. The last/only one in my area closed a couple years ago. |

Thank God we have Real Pizza around here.
I live about a block away from an awesome Pizza Shop Chain Pizza is Nasty |
|
I'm OK with that, there are a few great local joints around me I thoroughly enjoy patronizing.
|
|
Got one about ten minutes away. Don't know how it stays open though, don't see a packed parking lot usually.
Probably get enough mom's with kids to keep going is my guess, that's who I've seen entering when I go past. Been there a couple times in the past twenty years, simple salad bar, pizza's are so so. Not on my radar for lunch usually. |
|
Little Caesar's is putting a hurting on Domino's, Pizza Hut and Papa John's. It's definitely not gourmet pizza but for 5 bucks you get a decent large pepperoni that will feed 4 people. In this economy even Ike Turner couldn't beat that.
|
|
I can't remember the last time I darkened the door of a Pizza Hut. Maybe during the Clinton administration?
I don't see that changing, either. |
|
most of them have closed here, or reduced to a store that mimics dominoes. I dont think any eat in ones are left. they are all something else.
|

They ended their "buy 5 buffets, get 1 free" coupons a few months ago in my area.
If they keep that up I won't mourn their passing. |

One in Middletown (Louisville) KY pretty decent.
Villa Pizza Miami Int. Airport rocks |

I used to go to the original Shakey's in Sacramento as a kid. They had Three Stooges episodes playing nonstop.

There are so many chain option now.
Marios Mazzios Fox Mellow Mushroom Dominos Stevie B's Sbaros Papa Johns Cici's Just to name a few. There's no way I'd go out of my way for Pizza Hut. |

Are they as good or better than you local haunt? Shit no. They honestly can't be, at the prices they charge. But are they better than a lot of other national chains at the moment? I think so. |

They opened one in my little town but it's one of the carryout places with just two tables. Don't know of an actual sit-down place anywhere near me... used to be the joint back in the day.

The Stuffed Crust pizza (stuffed with cheese) is awesome.. well at least the crust part... I don't think pizza and sit down are really a good idea anymore... people are moving faster.. If you have a bar/restaurant which serves other things and you offer a HIGH END Pizza... then I could see it working, the bar keeps the place busy, the pizza brings people in on the weekends... Deluca's Pizza in Lansing, MI is a small place.. but everyone goes there for pizza... much better than any cheap fast food pizza like Dominoes/etc.. don't get me wrong I am eating Dominoes as I type this... lol.. but I wish I could get Deluca's here in DFW, Texas!!!
and Little Caesar's SUCKS.. sorry Mr Ilitch.. Love the WINGS, hate the Cardboard... errrr...Pizza!!! |

I love Ohio to death, but a great many of us wouldn't know a good pizza if it was shoved in front of us. The thing we would know however, is that New Yorkers are absolutely FULL OF SHIT, when it comes to the best pizza. I hate to bust their balls like this, but the best pizza parlors exist in California. They'll NEVER admit it, and that's fine. I love watching them wallow in their ocean of wrong. |

a new one just opened up here a couple months ago...i still go to dominos though..

Expanding, somehow. Most of them are take out joints, not full service eat-in restaurants.

I love the lack of color correction, and the overall green tinge this ad has. |

What about "Sam's Pizza"? Every city has at least 10 "Sam's Pizza" places, all owned by Arabs named "Sam"..
|

What I remember most about Pizza Hut is that all their pizzas tasted alike: soggy, doughy mess fried up in a greasy skillet. I know they're supposed to be deep-dish style, but Jesus.
And shit would have to come to a pretty fucking critical pass before I throw any more business Domino's way. We ordered something from them a few months back and it was way below DiGiorno's in quality, IMO. My wife looked at me and said, "If they're crowing about having improved their pizzas so much now, they must have tasted like the inside of a dumpster lid before." I wouldn't go quite that far, but they were much of a muchness with Little Seizure's. |
