I wouldn't buy one to put on a new build, but I am not getting rid of my quad rail on my 20" gun.

I have guns with quads, dickmod, M-lok, and regular old plastic handguards. They all seem to get the job done.

I have one on the first rifle I built.  I liked the look of the ladder style rail covers in FDE. I'll keep it but not buy another one.  The thing is heavy as shit so it settles in nicely when shooting offhand so I like that too.

Is it though?

I choose quad rails on serious rifles. Less deflection on ir lasers. Less shift on CNVD’s. Much more stout.
View Quote
I didn't say there was no place for them, just that there's significantly less of a place for them.

Besides, there are half quad rails and quads only around the muzzle, and only around the base to give super stable platforms without a full quad rail, and pretty much everything has at least a full top rail.

CNVD on top rail, IR on a muzzle only quad, and lose the rest of the rails for modular mounting surfaces.

I’ve got mlok everything but I’m looking for a FF RAS for a rail mounted 203.  I don’t see any other point.

My DD Omega is just a tad too slim IMHO.  When I tried using my Thorntail adapter, the SF Scout light wouldn't clear the front hand guard cap.  On the other hand, my Troy drop in quad rail worked just fine, but is significantly fatter across the horizontal plane than the Omega.

I'm thinking about non drop in. but I can see that being an issue. I have a similar issue with the thorntail everywhere though.

I’ve standardized with M-Lok, except for clones.

I like the newer minimalist rails.

This one is a MI gen 3 flat top. It’s stupid light. And I love it.

But my favorite build was my sopmod ish clone 14.5 with the kac quad rail. It just handled really well . I miss it. Pics are weirdly cropped because photobucket decided to choke on a giant cock....

Are you mounting those to the sides and bottom of your rifle hanguard?
View Quote
Correct. Most of my rifles are set up to use a clip on, other than two of my SBR's. That means running lasers on the side.

But even if your running just a laser on your top rail, quad rails are much more rigid. Less deflection and less chance of buggering things if you smack it into a tree or something.

Yes, I run stuff on m-lok rails obviously. But I trust my quad rails more. More weight, more aluminum, more stronger.

I do like a quality m-lok rail. But it just wouldn't be my first choice for a go to war rifle.

They already have gone somewhere. They used to be the go-to, now they are tier-2 "well I won't get rid of mine (because with a few exceptions they are worth very little on the open market) but I'm not buying any new ones" for most people.

Quad rails are like a fat girl with big tits. Yeah she's got big tits but she's got a bunch of meat you don't want everywhere else too.

Modern MLOK rails have meat where you want it, but are slim where you don't. You can thicken her up to your specifications

I have never had one but have been thinking about getting a kac for my colt. Have a 4 keymods on other rifles but can't really justify changing them. I have one Midwest Industries SS, all the rest are Mlok. All rifles operate just fine.

Compromise. Quad rails are heaver, but have superior mounting stability, more places to mount, and will not bent like m lok and key mod.

Key mod rail is thicker then m lok and less likely to bend but attachment points are not a secure as m lok attachment points. Key mod is losing out to m lok in the rail war.

M lok attachment points are less likely to slip as compared to key mod but the aluminum attachment points are very thin and make the rail very bendy. m lok seems to be winning the rail war and has more after market support.

I will take the heaver more durable rail with the best mounting points over the other 2.

Quad rail > Key mod> M lok.
If the only thing mounted on the rail is a flash light and a bi pod then I would go m lok.
If I'm mounting a aiming device like a laser on the rail then its quad all day and night long.

The only reason I’m in the market for a true quad rail is because I’m wanting clone my wife’s M4 she carried during her deployment in 2010. Otherwise, all m-lok, all the time.

You can get them fat and abrasive: Quad Rail
You can get them light and slim: mLock

Same here. They all work just fine, although I'm not a quadrail fan. But I have one on a Noveske/Black Rain upper that came that way when I got it. Works fine, very accurate, so I decided to leave well enough alone.
