I think it’s pretty pathetic. I don’t like rap, but they don’t seem good at it. I suppose it would appeal to a lot more folk’s getting into the army than music I like. They have had bands for years. I would guess they changed with the times

Once you decide to have full time entertainers in the service, why not appeal to different audiences? Plus, recruiting is brutal right now and this seems fairly harmless. Last time I was in Germany, I visited many of the small hotel owners where we stayed while stationed there. One small (as in rural) town had a festival in the town square and the hotel owner invited us to join him and stated that the US Army Band will be there and they’re always great.

But it's not the big army, it's the music/band specialty units. Music is inherently expressive and tied to culture, so this is artists that happen to be in the army doing their musical thing. |
