Took her to court December to finally force enforcement of the child support order she’s in contempt for ignoring. Got put on unsupervised probation for 10 years (insert jacking off hand motion here) and placed on a payment plan of $416 a month, which is the regular child support order plus $60 to “catch up on arrears” (continue jacking off hand motion). That was in December. January and February she paid what she was supposed to, March 15th told me the money was on the way and more coming the next week (payment is due on the 1st) but only one payment of $250 was received on the 10th of April. Not even 1/3rd of what was owed for March and April. Remember, she doesn’t file taxes, and she doesn’t have any bank accounts. Wonder if her Trump $ will be sent to us or if it’ll slip by the wayside... I could really use it. |

I recall reading when this was proposed that child support arrearage was one of the few things that would get it taken. No idea if that made it "live". If she doesn't file taxes and hasn't in years they probably wouldn't attempt the disbursement unless she applied otherwise. |

Does she use a relatives bank account? Most employers won’t cut you a check. Direct deposit is required. How does she earn money? I’m guessing she will he issued a paper check from the IRS but that’s just a guess. In this electronic age hunting down dead beats seems like it would be a cinch. Unless they run a under the table all cash business (illicit or otherwise). |

Quoted: Courts are almost always very slack on arrears when it's the female that owes it. Not unexpected as it's is a system set up for females and mostly run by females with oversight by females. In Michigan, we call it the Friend of the Cunt's office. Oh, I see you're in MI too. |

Quoted: Does she pay you or does she pay the state and the state passes it on to you? Has the state filed a federal tax offset on her? Pays the state and the state passes it on. Pisses me off. In an attempt to do the right thing and coparent with her, I forgave her of 3 years of arrears. It took a handful of months after that before the payments stopped coming and she racked up two years of arrears. Took her to court again, same ol song and dance, I signed the payment plan agreement and here we are again, 4 months into it and she’s only paid ~2.5 months. I’m such an idiot. |

Quoted: in texas payroll deduction is mandatory. does she not get a paycheck? Nope, gets paid under the table by her boyfriend (husband?) dad who owns a carpentry business. He knows she owes, he went with her to court this last time, and they both reeked of booze and were visibly drunk in court, so much so that the officers of the court said something to me about it. |

Quoted: Yeah, because responsibility isn’t a conservative value ?? Quoted: Quoted: Also, that's the only way it should ever be. Actually, child support shouldn't exist period. For either party, ever. Yeah, because responsibility isn’t a conservative value ?? If state mandated wealth transfer weren't an option, many doomed marriages would likely never be formed in the first place. I empathize with you OP, but it sounds like you married a giant piece of shit. That is, at least in part, your responsibility. |

If the IRS doesn’t have a 2018 or 2019 return then no money will be sent. If she files a 2020 return next year they will take if for back child support since this is a 2020 credit. Can you petition the court to make her file? Drop a hint to the IRS she hasn’t filed if she is required to? I don’t see a scenario where you will get the money anytime soon. |

I took the responsibility when I took on the kids. They eat $650/month in food. Her original payment wouldn’t even cover our light bill. Your dropping fallacy logic. Marriages fail and have always failed. The world you think exists never has and never will. It’s your personal delusion. Sooooooo many single parents had it made and soooooo many kids had it made before child support became law I’m sure. |

She fled the state and I got full custody of my kids. I'll happily eat that child support if she stays away. |

Quoted: My ex owes me close to $8k in arrears. She fled the state and I got full custody of my kids. I'll happily eat that child support if she stays away. That’s what I did for the first 3 years. Wiped it away. It’s when she popped back up that got us into this little jam. |

| Long story short my child support order is ended, at the end they did a recalculation and pulled another $8,000 out of their ass that are now arrears for me... Worked it out with the ex and shes waiving it she just hasn't done it yet. Now I have no idea if I'm getting the $1,700 stimulus for my daughter and I or if they're going to hijack it and send it to her like they will with any tax returns |

Quoted: She owes $8K in child support? A man would be in jail for much less. Truth be told, she was one of 3 people in court that was read her Miranda rights when we went last time, the other two were “men”. Nobody went to jail that day, including the guy that owed $120,000, but that guy came with an attorney and a check for $20,000, he got another appearance date in which he was told if he doesn’t pay another $50,000 by that date, he’d be locked up for felony non payment. But he walked owing $100,000 that day after it was all said and done. |

Quoted: Why not find a better paying job if you need it. While I know it’s owed to your kids but don’t count on it . And change your job for the better. I had a good enough paying job to cover it for the most part, up until uncle sugar made us close up shop because of the Shanghai shivers. I own my own business and hustle day and night to keep it going and provide for the kids, just would’ve been nice to get an extra $1,200 from her during all of this. |

Quoted: 650 / 2 people / 30 days/ 3 meals = $3.61 per meal. Op isn’t exactly eating filet and lobster at that price. Quoted: Quoted: You eat $650 a month in food? How many kids to you have, at least 7 correct? Otherwise, you should think about a budget. They work. 650 / 2 people / 30 days/ 3 meals = $3.61 per meal. Op isn’t exactly eating filet and lobster at that price. I have 3 in my family and I don't spend half that on meals, and I prepare everything. When you account for breakfast and other cheap meals kids like - scrambled eggs, cereal, ramen, mac & cheese, $3.61 per meal seems like a lot to me. |
