I graduated HS in 1986 and had none of that crap, not even a mullet. I made fun of my brother (4 years younger) when he got an earring. I asked him if he had a tampon to go with it. OTH, I had a bitchin' 80s mustache. View Quote |

Yep that's him back in the day. Saw them in San Antonio back in the mid 80's. I was at the front of the stage and he shoved the mic in my face. Awesome!! Dudes are still touring View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Lived in the South Bay in the 80s and had the long ass hair and a self pierced ear, no safety pin though
The hair came off for basic, but I used to wear a small earring in the base club just to piss off the old guys. Never wore one after about '88, jewelry on guys is just weird. |

At one point, I had a mullet, and a shag—when I had hair.....and my girlfriend did one of those Adam Ant braids that hung on my forehead....Thank god there was no YouTube back then....all the pics are lost in a flood. Later a pony tail.... Thanks for making me think of the stupidity that was my youth View Quote |

I always thought it was too much of an affectations, same as with hair bands and metal heads.
Even then I knew that tribalism is the death of society. Yes dear, that's nice. Of course you're unique and special, just like everyone else. |

Nah.
I did have a black girl corn-row my hair . Looked pretty good. My hair didn't look bad either. |

Me and a buddy in Catholic school were the only two "punks". We wore the beaded bathtub stopper chains and fishing lure swivels (before the alternative lifestyle men took to it to mean something else).
Also had early 1960s fatigue shirts we'd wear. That's as edgy as i got. Here is some music to move this thread along. Flipper - The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly |

Saw a lot of great punk shows in Austin in the early 80s.
"Raouls" club on the Drag. "Club Foot" downtown. The OAF house (punk rock sort of fraternity house - didn't last long when the landlords figured out they had leased to punk rockers and punk rockers are not known for solid financial skills like paying bills or rent in a timely manner. Good times. I could hang with the preppie Frat rats & Sorority babes or Mosh Pit with the best / worst of the punkers. If I could time machine back, I'd do so in an instant. |

My give was that fucking Serveta and the two hopped up P200Es. Loud as Hell. Quick as shit.

I began the 80s by leaving Buffalo and relocated to Houston (11/01/80), and began a new life in Texas. Began a career in the investment business, got married, and by 1988 we had our first child. I was pretty well done with sowing wild oats and rebelling by then, although there is a picture of me sporting a Mohawk from my college football days in the mid 70s.
I'd do the 80s over again in a heartbeat. Exciting times! |

I was a kid at the time riding my 10 speed bicycle and causing chaos.
My babysitters boyfriend used to drive us around in his VW Bug Convertible.... I thought i was the coolest thing when tagging along with them to the mall and movies. They were also the “skater crowd” and I thought that was cool. |

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest in the 70's and 80's.
