I remember when that happened. Never saw, well what’s left of, his face. I’d have nightmares for life if I was with him and saw it. Can’t imagine what he has and is still going through.

Yeah, that pic is going to stay with me for a bit. Note to self, do not fuck with bears.

So he was able to get a 44 or 454 or some other large caliber round in the bears head? Looks like he shoved the pistol in the Bears ear?

And that's why I'm a fan of magnum buckshot rounds in a shotgun. Fuck carrying pistols and rifles for primary yogi defense.
I mean, that's it you have time,.or you even hear them. |

Quoted: Why have a photo shoot when you could be applying aid or getting help? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Did he just let the bear eat his face while he pulled out the gun?? Why he stop the snow scooter? My guess is they already had help on the way and how exactly do you "apply aid" to a giant face crater? If he was conscious and breathing fine, I would just leave him alone for fear of doing more harm than good. |

Wholly shit! Based on the OP & follow-up post:
-Man has his face ripped OFF by bear -Man shoots bear with revolver once and kills it -Man lives with face or bone structure turned to ground beef -Man has reconstructive surgery to get a face back -Man has bear skull, bullet, brass & revolver as souvenirs That sound about right?... ETA: Seems that man did not shoot & kill the bear, (2) other men did Amazing, none the less... |

Choosing not to continue the attack? That means 9mims is great." Yeah fuck off with that nonsense. It all revolves around My Perfect Bear AttackTM Where the bear sees you, waves, and lets you do an El Presidente drill, and the bear changes his mind, runs off and bleeds out. Which is pretty much identical to a home-invasion where the homeowner uses birdshot, the guy runs away and bleeds out. The tacticool crowd are often the fudds of the outdoors. The talking points shouldn't be about capacity, expansion, and gel tests - on big stuff, It's about meplat, energy, and heavy hardcast rounds. I've never seen this argument made... that G19 is good for everything. I think that's pretty evident by the normal threads popping up of people asking what gun for bear country on a routine basis. I've seen it on several occasions and posted in those threads. I can think of at least 3 threads where the "9mm is fine for bear" meme trickled out. In particular, the thread(s) about the old guide. (Saying "the old guide" is more than enough of a contextual clue to cite the threads where this comes up.) A popular rebuttal line (if it could be called a rebuttal) amounts to, "Jesus Christ guys it's a grizzly bear not an Abrams tank" Which is funny but ridiculous. I laughed It's still shit advice and deserves to be mocked. |

It’s hard to imagine surviving injuries like that. One tough son of a bitch.

You did give a graphic warning.
I thought he died for sure after that mauling. I would be wearing a bear claw necklace from that bear after surviving that ordeal. Wow. |

Holy shit. Dude looks pretty good after all things considered

How does a surgeon even know where to begin fixing that? Hell of a good job!

Looks like that young Marine who bit down on the blasting cap.
This is miraculous work. |

I was not expecting to see that man alive after the first set of pic's!

I wonder how cold it was and if that helped limit the bleeding.
When I worked in the wood products industry I saw pictures of some very bad chainsaw kickback facial injuries that people survived, but damn, this one takes the cake... |

I worked in an ED for many years as just a general tech. We had a teen girl brought in that got hit in the face with 00 buck from a failed suicide. Her face looked Ike this guy's. The plastic surgeon looked at it was meh..I got this..and he did. Just amazing what these guys can do

I've seen that. Docs did a brilliant job with his face, but I'm not so sure I'd want to survive that. Fucking hell...
