It appears that some police officers have never been in a fistfight in their lives. Somehow my father served 37 years in law enforcement including LAPD and State Patrol and never shot a dog. That was hard to watch.

Seven year old was not carrying the dog. If you look frame by frame, the dog is actually behind the child, and the position of the boys arms makes it look like he is holding it.
If this is the whole video, it does not appear the dog ever gets close enough to bite the cop, despite the Wiki article. He states that the dog attacked him, and that is not evident either. |

Nobody deserves to be shot in a domestic just because the local cop feels the need to shoot your dog because of whatever issues the cop has with dogs. Anyone who thinks this was a good shoot is as fucked in the head as that cop was. It’s amazing how many people here can’t tell the difference between right and wrong.

dog was a german shepherd and according to the article was biting him as he was trying to defend the husband from this woman. he slipped or was pulled by the dog while he was shooting.
Sounds like severe retardation was infecting the family. I didn't watch the video and I don't want to. Can anyone verify what the article says by watching the video? |

that was hard to watch
imo all parties had some fault in the situation. but an officer who pulls a gun and opens fire with at least 2 innocent bystanders within 5 feet, over a dog, has made a irreconcilable error in judgement. if the round that hit her was so high that it struck her in the chest it could have easily hit the child in the head should he lose his career and pension over an accident...idk I whole heartily believe he should no longer be allowed on patrol in the future not only because he has shown he is incapable of making basic life or death decisions involving his duty weapon would you risk a child's life to avoid getting bit by a dog? but also, will he be able to react in a situation in the future without doubting his actions therefore putting everyone involved at risk(like his partner, or surrounding civies) desk job and early retirement |
