Don't expect to be able to buy from that guy again. LOL.

Should be straight forward with your credit card company. Tell them you bought something and it wasn't as described and the seller isn't issuing a CC refund. You shouldn't need to go into detail about the barrel twist when you tell the CC company.

If you paid by CC they have your billing address.

I would wait and see if the check shows up before doing a chargeback.  I'm also surprised they didn't do a CC refund since they would at least get their merchant processing fees back if they did.

You should have let the credit card company deal with it.

Final Update:

This is his email to me:

I refunded your card this morning.  Just so you are aware, the gun was exactly as advertised.  It does have a 1-7 twist and is a the correct barrel.  I called colt and they stamped the barrel incorrectly.  They were unsure of how this happened.  They were more than willing to speak with you in regards to this matter.  Colts customer service number is .  The person I spoke with is ***** his extension is #****.

Thanks **************

OK, Colt stamped the barrel incorrectly. Did they also turn it to the wrong diameter? You mentioned getting a HBAR instead of government profile. Sounds like someone doesn't want to admit he's wrong.

I have a 1/9 and a 1/7 rifle for a reason.

1/7 works better if you are looking for the widest breadth of ability to somewhat accurately shoot 55-77grn rounds....but if all you shoot is 55 grain stuff, 1/9 is technically better.

Your vendor is FOS. Colt did. Not stamp the barrel incorrectly, and they did not mistakenly ship it as a HBAR. He swapped the upper out and got caught.

If he is claiming Colt fucked up and marked it wrong, and that a straight profile is a gov't profile, then he's a lying POS and needs to be put out of business. Sounds to me like he swapped the upper.

I can just pick up a rifle and tell the difference between a gov't profile and an HBAR on a 16" carbine. I can sure as hell tell the difference between gov't and H on a 20" and if I can, anyone can.

Far as I am aware, Colt does not make 20" HBAR 1/7 barrels anymore, and hasn't made them in a long goddamn time.

What was this guy's name?

Colt made a handful of these wrong in the last run.  The barrel was indeed 1:7 Govt Profile but it's marked 1:9 HBAR.

This doesn't really change the fact that you had a bad experience with this reseller but understand he was as confused as you were about the whole mess.

I wrote back this:

Hey XXXXXX, I appreciate the replacement offer, but to be honest man i'm not interested in that route. This particular experience has jaded me on online deals from here on out. And that is no fault of you personally by the way, but I'd rather buy one locally I can inspect before purchase. I do not want a replacement rifle at this time. If it had been a huge gouge, chips in paint, or damaged finish or the like, sure that would be acceptable. But that was not the case. I get the "As is- no returns" and agree with that 100% but I do not feel that applies here. "AS-IS, no returns" doesn't mean someone can advertise one thing and then deliver another. Then once a complaint is made, ship you another and you just have to eat it. I'm not trying to come off as rude or an asshole here. Quite the contrary. But at this point I just want a return, mutual positive feedback, and to go are ways, with the potential for me to be a return customer in the future. I do NOT want to have to involve my Credit Card company, internet, etc etc. Nor do I think you deserve that either. It would be much easier for both of us if you could just issue a return and shipping label to my FFL. Please let me know.

I just received my Colt AR15A4.  Once I got it home and unpacked it I notice the barrel was stamped 1/9 HBAR.  I removed the handguards and was relieved to see not the diameter and profile of an HBAR, but that of an A2.  With the help of a friend, I pulled a Dewey rod and brush through the barrel. and as I suspected with every 7 inches of pull the rod rotated 360 degrees.  I guess the vendor was right when he said the Colt rep. told him the barrel was mis-marked.

No they are not HBAR profile, You are not the only one with a mismarked barrel. If you took off the hand guards you would have seen that.

Colt made a MT6700 which was a non-chrome lined 1/9 Hbar with a removable carry handle.

Did it have a bayonet lug or flash hider?

Did they state the model # in the sales description?
