I'd love for an actual psychologist to explain what the purpose of Kim's behavior is.
I figure that he is either being scripted by handlers...likely the Chinese...and just a puppet whose master has some larger, grandiose plan....or....he truly is nuts. All this test firing dick waving has gotten silly. He knows what he has, and by now knows what his weapons do. Yet...he keeps being conspicuous about things...which makes me think he is completely full of shit. Lots of talk...lots of posturing....lots of bullshit. Am I the only one who thinks that all this being played out in the media is exactly why it's not a real threat? Who fights like this in real life? It's like some stupid B movie. A couple of points here.
I am usually a pretty optimistic person. Things usually turn out for the best in the long term is my out look on life. Point one: I voted for Trump, but at the same time was surprised, once again, that he is the best we had to choose from in this great country. But that is how it was, so I was OK voting for him. Now the NK shit has heated up waaaaaay faster than I thought it would, while at the same time we have a president who believes in giving the military their strategic orders and then letting them handle it from there. Fuck the politically correct bullshit warfighting. Go kill the enemy. Mattis is a perfect match for this approach. Point two: I still believe that we can put way more pressure on China and Russia before we need to go to war, but if it comes to shooting, we really do have a couple of big sets of balls handling it. |

To get the keys to the nuclear clubhouse, a country needs to demonstrate A) a working nuclear weapon that's B) small & robust enough to be deliverable with C) a working platform (plane, ICBM, SLBM, etc.). If they had a nuke, but nothing to deliver it with, who cares, right? If they have an awesome ICBM, but no nuke to put on it, all they have is a really expensive lawn dart. All of those things involve testing of the individual components, then testing as a system, to achieve an operational capability. Lil Kim knows we'd never let him get away with any kind of long-term testing program to get to his goal. So, he's jamming all his final developmental tests into a really short time frame, in an effort to saturate the decision-making processes of his adversaries. If he gets his tests done quickly enough, one after another, then boom, he's now demonstrated the capability before his adversaries can come up with a response. He's at first and goal on the 2 yard line. He's just got to do a couple of sprints at the end to make it happen, he's hoping to do that in a blitz before the opposition organizes a good defense. My bet: one or two more launches, at least one more nuke test (intel says he's getting ready to do both), then a major announcement on Sept 9 that they have a nuclear capability. (Sept 9th is their independence day.) |
