My neighbor and I watched the contrail from the missile leave the jet and impact the balloon. Then heard the boom a little bit later. Definitely was a missile. Crazy.

mark rober's youtube vido on trying to drop an egg from a ballon may shed some light on the ballon popping and shredding. It looked very similar to when his ballon failed to me. Probably a similar material.
