To race in the GT class at Le Mans you had to build 25 street cars. In 1966 Ford built 31 Mk1 GT40s for the street and 7 were for dealers. This one was a dealer model. Attached File

I'm not really seeing much to disagree here.
The absurd stuff sold due to homologation rules... gotta love it. I'm looking at you, Group B. |
|
What a relief... I thought this would be some stupid K car or Asian shitbox thread.
|
|
You're not wrong Op.
There are however a bunch of sweet street cars. I love all homologation cars made so they could race them. |

. My Cousin would agree. |

Not disagreeing but the ‘69 Yenko 427 Nova deserves a mention.
Yenko said he was glad he built it but never should have. |

Jim Click, a Tucson car dealer, has this one in his collection, another dealer car. Attached File
He actually raced this one and put it in an auction but it did not sell. |

My favorite part of the LeMans 66 movie was absolutely no mention that it was just a Lola that had already been developed and raced. The car just appears out of nowhere like Shelby drew it up in a weekend and some guys in Detroit put it together.

I was gonna say Lamborghini Miura. GT40 was cool also. Took them a while to make it a winning car.

One of the sexiest street/race cars ever made. The lines are just right, and the performance is still off the charts today.

I have always had a thing for the GT40, and early (1967-ish) Pontica GTO's. Also like some of the 1965-75 Mopar cars.

I have put hands on a MK3. The guy I know has a Mk3, a 2nd gen, and a 2020. All 3 are cool as shit in their own ways.
The Mk3 3 was out of the country, just got it back here, that was a MAJOR fiasco, and VERY expensive with all of the bullshit Covid restrictions in Europe. He was shitting bricks from the time it left it's home in Europe, until it got back to the states. And yes,Op, the gt40 is probably the coolest street car ever made. Although, I think I like the styling of the daytona a little more. |

Dream garage would have one of those, a Cobra and a Thunderbolt parked next to it.

OP, what’s the difference between a street car and a dealer car? Was the dealer car not able to be licensed for use on the road?
|
|
I was going to post and shit on whatever was posted instead of a 1969 Dodge Daytona.
I forgot the low number cars/rules and cannot. You had the correct choice. |

Not a big Ford guy but I can’t disagree.
Got to ride in a GT for about 2 miles before I almost got Paul Walker’d by an old boss. Edit: that 8 to 1 header on the Pantera |

Even though it's a one-of, the Rossi 917 was an incredible street car.
When you're an actual Count, you can get just about any car as a street car. Used to have Texas plates. Story here https://www.automobilemag.com/news/up-close-and-personal-with-count-rossis-street-legal-porsche-917k/ |
