Someone earlier asked my thoughts on the future of the dam.
1. I think the dam in it's pre super damaged state would of been fine had they not filled it to the brim right before a mega storm. 2. If they do 1. again they will have problems no matter what. but I believe there are MANY reasons that won't happen again for generations at least. I think this dam will be very boring for decades at this point. If enough people want me to go check it out, I will. PF |

Sounds like it's in the newly poured structural concrete sections, rather than the RCC or upper bit that's to be replaced next year anyway. That's not good, but they are trying to say that it is normal. Who's our concrete expert here to say cracking on surface of new, erosion hardened pre-stressed concrete is normal or not? I know they tore down a bridge abutment they had just built in construction because of "some small cracks", making the detour go on another month. I don't know if that's different concrete needed than what they are using on the dam for water to run over. However, cracks, and lack of patching of those cracks, in the original spillway is why this whole thing happened to start with. If it's serious, having Great Stuff Flex Seal poking out of cracks in a 1000 foot run of brand new concrete will be really silly. Sort of like the skyscrapers roped together in Idiocracy to keep them both standing. |

Propose video lottery and other money making things that are simple enough a .gov can run. |

Upper and lower spillway cams are back up. Perhaps it's just coincidence, but it seems that the lower cam was out whenever they were disassembling and moving components from the lower RCC plant.
