Denver Health at “Critical Point” as 8,000 Migrants Make 20,000 Emergency Visits

The Denver hospital system is turning away local residents because it is flooded with migrant visits.

ABC News reports Denver hospital system may collapse due to migrant crisis: ‘We are turning down patients’

Denver Health CEO Donna Lynne warned the center is in a crucial moment due to unexpected costs associated with immigrant visits.

What I think is not being said is that Denver Health is at a critical, critical point and that we need to take this up in 2024,” Lynne told the Denver City Council, according to the Denver Post.

Eight-thousand migrants from Central America accounted for approximately 20,000 visits in 2023. Denver Health asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide funds for immigrants’ medical costs. The state and federal governments aren’t reimbursing the hospital, which spent $136 million for patients who didn’t pay.

Par for the course when you have a large illegal alien population. Some of the hospital maternity wards in my area have 90%+ no pay on baby deliveries due to all the illegals dropping their anchor babies on this side of the border.

Don’t worry though, I’m sure the government will be along soon to rescue the system with single payer.

At this point, the government directly or indirectly finances about half of the money spent on healthcare in this country. The people with private insurance and self pay get screwed for the other half.

You know that the average "moderate" has no clue this is how it works. They think that hospitals treat 1 uninsured for every 100 paying customers.

Hell, the hospital should put a notice at the bottom of the bill showing that average amount of the bill that is paying for other people who don't pay.
When Seattle passed a $15 "Living wage" several years ago, many restaurants and service industry places added "living wage" surcharges to their receipts.

Now look at the hospitals in the smaller cities and town on Colorado.
