Deputy Attacks, Then Deletes Camera Footage
Deputy Attacks, Then Deletes Camera Footage 9/16nupdate http://www.fcso.org/press-releases/642-sheriff-joye-responds-to-youtube-incident Press Releases On Monday, September 12, 2022 we became aware of an incident involving one of our deputies when we received a written complaint from the person arrested and his video was posted on Youtube. We promptly opened an Internal Affairs Investigation which included a review of all known video, including body worn camera video and interviews of the deputies on scene. The Internal Affairs Investigation determined numerous FCSO Policy violations during the incident. As a result of the investigation, Sgt. Morrison is no longer employed by the Florence County Sheriffs Office. The matter has been referred to the 12th Circuit Solicitor's Office. By way of further transparency, we have met with the individual involved and his attorney and all existing video has been made available in its entirety. Our agency has conducted training on the handling of First Amendment rights and that training is ongoing. We will continue to respect the First Amendment rights of the citizens of Florence County and those who travel here. Escalation by officer that did not need to happen and yes I have seen the original video and am familiar with this guy's videos.

To save everybody some trouble, it's a video by one of those "audits" douchebags.

View Quote Doesn't really matter. One of them came asking for trouble, one came looking for trouble. They both got what they wanted, and probably went home happy. |

Well fine citizens of Florence, SC, do you enjoy being fucked by your police?
Because you're fucked. |

I have a buddy that has interacted with one of these auditors. He approached him, briefly chatted, figured out what he was doing and left.
I think the deleting of the footage is basically an admission of guilt, if that is what happened. |

Quoted: Live their lives, or conduct public business in public? View Quote You really shouldn't record either. Even though the law often says you can. The law in most places says you can go around calling everyone you meet a cocksucking piece of shit too. But again, you really shouldn't. Legally, the cop is wrong here, and the POS "auditor" is likely right (even though none of them seem to know what "easement" really means). But, as I am not involved in the adjudication of this mess, I can follow my heart instead of my head, and just say that I wish the property owner had physically removed the idiot with the camera with no repercussion. |

I love how people shit on these first amendment auditors. Sure most of their motivation is financial but at least they are making it clear to .gov we are not forfeiting first amendment rights. Seems like if you support the second amendment you would support folks fighting for other constitutional rights.

Deletion of body footage that obfuscates an investigation or complaint, whether accidental or deliberate, should carry a mandatory penalty of termination. Zero tolerance.
And if it was on purpose it should be charged as a crime. |

Seems pretty cut & dry.
That officer needs to be fired. Again, I'm amazed at how modern police keep failing these interactions with auditors. |
