I heard an interesting take on 3D gun plans. Flood the internet with plans and people would become uncertain and/or confused about which plan would work. I mean most arfcommers will go on forever about merely 2 choices, Apple or Android, 9mm v. .40, etc. so adding lots of plan choices would effectively stall out most gun printing projects.

It's the Internet. As soon as someone makes a Solidworks schematic for "VolksPistole XXI", it's on torrent sites and it's everywhere, forever. All .gov can do, at any level, is interfere with making a profit from doing so (hint: most of the people monkeying around with Desktop Manufacturing of firearms are basically doing it pro bono). "3-D Printing" is only getting more flexible and more accessible, and the Internet means that interrupting the free exchange of information is very, very unlikely to succeed. Let 'em tilt at this windmill, as it'll distract them from lawfare that might actually impact our RTKBA. |
