Yep....got two, but they stay in a multi-acre fenced in area in the back....along with a couple donkeys. The donkeys make more noise than the dogs do when someone comes down the driveway

Do you have any idea how much hassle is involved in house breaking a donkey?

Great point!! I will get some better screws for those hinges!

I used 3.5" or 4" (don't remember which) deck screws to get into the door frame.  2 per hinge, leaving the shitty little screw in the middle hole.  I also took the trim off prior to putting the long screws in and filled the gap between the door casing and frame, do this so the long screws don't pull the door away from the lock.

I used 2.5" (plenty long enough to go through the wood chassis) deck screws going into the steel clad door, 3 per hinge.

I also just received my second inside nanny cam. I'm setting it up to record and alert motion from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Placed in the bedroom out of site. This is an area of the house I don't need bad guys going into when I'm gone. I also have 6 outside NVR cams and an additional nanny cam in front room.

I have a separate thread about these going but figured worth adding here also.

For the cheap route Wyze cameras on Amazon are $25 each. I purchased 3 plus outdoor cases for them  total was $107 with prime.

I know there are a million things you can do to make your house harder to break into, the sky is the limit as long as you have the money to throw at it.  What about cheap, easy things that you can do?  We live “out in the country”, with no other neighbors close by…..so I’m always looking for little things to improve the security of our place….or at least make it less of a target to some random crack head/thug.  Here are a few things we’ve done over the years…..just looking to see if anyone else has any ideas.

* Planted thorny plants/shrubs in front of all front windows
* Put aftermarket locks on the large sliding doors going into the basement
* Put aftermarket locks, and some of those magnetic piezo alarm buzzers on all of the sliding storm windows around the house that are at ground level
* I ran extra long heavy duty screws into all of the dead bolt catch plates
* Motion detecting security/flood lights on the front of the house
* 6 camera system around the outside of the house…..what other easy things am I forgetting here?

I have a pretty cheap (Under $400) wired system that I got off of Amazon.  I think it's a Zmoto system with a 1tb HD. I've had it for over a year, and it's been great. Very good night vision.....and easy to operate software. I'm very happy with it.

Um.....please tell me where you can live and NOT want to harden your house? Do you sleep with your windows open in the summer time, and leave all of your doors unlocked all day when you are at work?

For people that can't have a dog, get a BIG dog food bowl anyway. Beat the shit out of it and write Mauler or Killer on it. Leave it outside in a visible location.

After I went through a attempted home invasion 5 years (was home and able to stop it).

Installed long stainless screws in all my door locks.

Installed cast iron bars in all my basement windows.

Installed 3m film in all windows that are reachable.

Invested in a 4 samsung camera system and 4 arlo cameras

Started carrying inside my home.
