[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Even the FBI says the P320 is trash. (Page 2 of 3)

Quoted: Why did the person who made the video redact the agent name/state? They claimed it was to give time for the agency to review things? The report came out in August 2024. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/26697/Screenshot_2025-07-07_133011_jpg-3582602.JPG |

Quoted: Sig can't abandon the p320 without major pain from their military contracts. If the p320 is booted from service, the company's investment in the platform will be sunk and I'm not sure Sig USA would survive. What I don't get is why Sig just doesn't just fix the damn thing, get rid of the trigger mechanism that's the culprit and retrofit a new one. Sure, it won't have that "better than glock" trigger that was so famed when sig debuted this thing, but frankly.....if you're designing a striker gun, why in the blue fuck would you preload the firing pin spring such that it can set off the primer without the trigger loading the spring. Preloading removes one of the major safety features inherent to the striker design (not capable of enough kinetic energy to set off primer unless trigger is pulled). On a fighting gun, I want safe more than I want a light trigger. On a range gun, I'll take the better trigger. The p320 isn't a range gun and never will be in stock fighting gun format. That’s just laughable. Aug has so many contracts they wouldn’t be sunk. The 320 has also made them a ton of money. I won’t run a 320, but your doom and gloom is unfounded. |

Quoted: The point is that ALL he posts in GD is about the P320. It's not quality shitposts like the rest of us. |

Quoted: Without admitting it. It's not like everyone doesn't know at this point. The only delusional ones are those who refuse to admit it's trash. I think whenever there is a consensus that Sig has implemented a fix, I am going to see if I can send mine in for factory ' inspection ' and maintenance

He should. But I don't see that happening. He has been doing this schtick for a long time. The epitome of bored boomers playing on the errornet. |

In other words, a shit design made with shit QC by a shit company run by a shit guy. |

Quoted: Sig has implemented multiple "behind the scenes" changes to the p320... they're trying to fix the issue without letting on source? I know of people who sent in their p320 for the "fix" and then had a drop fire. if they can quietly send in their "fixed" pistol for the "next fix" I bet they would. but still wouldn't carry the pistol. |

The technical / design problems need to be fixed, but the honesty problem needs to be fixed even more; otherwise they won't be able to fully gain back trust from those who have lost it. |

Sig is hated for a lot of reasons. Some definitely appear to be self created. One of the reasons is due to their constant changes during a production run. Oddly, that may be what saves sig in this case. They may have already addressed the issues that could potentially occur. But who knows for certain, one way or the other. Has it been handled properly? Only time will truly tell, but there are a lot of instances where training/learning can occur due to how this issue is being handled. Ten years from now will be interesting to see how this is viewed. Would I personally buy another 320? Yes, but it would be the most recent production date I could find. I may wait another year, though. Sig could take a lesson from glock, and start a sig armorers course. Then send out replacement parts to those armorers to just swap out old ones across the board. Yes, Glock did that, and it was successful in many ways. Only those around when Glock came on the scene may remember that. With sig, though.. |

LMAO FBI determines 10mm is the ideal cartridge, gunowners buy 10mm FBI creates 40 SW because 10mm is too powerful, gunowners flock to buy 40 SW. FBI says Glock is the way, gunowners buy Glocks. FBI says 9mm is better than 40 SW, gunowners owners dump 40 and 9mm all the things. FBI says P320 is trash… Gunowners who hate Sig use this confirmation bias to keep hating. Those who love Sig double down because they hate the FBI despite having gone to 9mm because FBI said it is more better. What a bunch of fucking sheep. |

Quoted: The FBI Ballistics Research Center is different than the FBI's investigative and enforcement groups. The former is very legitimate, serious, and arguably the pre-eminent worldwide authority on many firearms-related topics. The latter is not. The two should not be confounded. The Ballistics Research Center should not be irrationally dismissed because of other FBI groups' failures. |

I’ve frankly done none of those things except believe the P320 is garbage. And I didn’t need the FBI report to know something was seriously wrong with the design. |

What a bunch of fucking sheep. 10MM was and is awesome, but it was obviously too much for what they needed. .40 was an is a good compromise. Shockingly--ballistics have greatly improved since the 1980s and 1990s. If the 9mm defensive cartridges of today existed in the 1980s, you very likely would have seen the FBI converting from .38 to 9MM. Glocks are still awesome, btw. Not super innovative and not objectively sexy, but still reliable and accurate. I still bounce between my 19 and 23. |

I have prob 500 rounds on it now and prefer it over all my GLOCKs, Berettas, pretty much everything. Just so easy to get rounds on target QUICKLY. Came with #8 sights front and rear. Sent it back for #6 on both and it's dead balls on now. So freakin' easy to shoot this thing. Oddly, the only hiccup was the VERY FIRST round. Racked it, pulled trigger, fired, jammed. Thought oh shit, this gon b gud. After that though, smooth sailing. I stripped the entire frame down after about 300 rounds, cleaned it out, and greased it up. I'm thinking a Legion 229 is not far off. Took the P320 out a couple weeks ago and shot it side by side. Absolutely no comparison. P226 all day every day. Oh, here's a link to replace that plastic UID label with a real metal laser engraved one that will last. https://carolinalaserworks.ecwid.com/Custom-UID-tag-for-M17-M18-Mk25-M11-A1-3-2-cm-x-0-7cm-p82882281 |

We tried the M17 and 18 and I personally found it 100% meh on the meh to woot scale. I don't get the fascination with them, other than the modular grip/guts is kinda neato. I didn't like the trigger and the whole thing was a chonk in hand. The fact that there's this controversy about whether it shoots itself makes me a "will never own at any price" kinda guy. I know there are serious fanboys here and I'm glad you've got a good one, this is not a personal slam on you in any way. |

Gun and trigger was just okay. I preferred a stock glock over them. Not a fan of the angled triggers. I think he ditched the p320s and moved to the p365. |
