I know it's corny, but Butterfly Kisses makes me tear up.

These two really get me, every time.

A good rendition of the National anthem gets me. Outside of that, good Christian songs can strike a chord.

My daughter got married 18 mos. ago and this was the song she and I danced to. I used to sing it to her when she was little and she’d hold my hand and tell me she’s never leaving her daddy to get married. It’s getting dusty in here just thinking about it. |

Forgot who sings it but it's called. LETTERS FROM HOME.
Any veteran I know of this song is tough. Really hits me even in public. They mean so much from a loved one when you are thousands of miles away in a combat zone. |

For those with a daughter…
“I Loved Her First” by Heartland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw1ij6yo6Hs At first, you might think he’s singing about a girlfriend or a wife, but once you figure it out, it really hits you. “I’ll Fly Away” performed by Jacksonville State University band, particularly when performed at a memorial or similar |

All the time. Movies too.
Sometimes the music from a movie is a double whammy like Hans Zimmer's Interstellar score. Actually just thinking about that as I wrote this introduced a slight nervous system response that could have started it but I snapped back to continue this sentence. Weird. NM. Just listened to this as I searched for the vid and it worked. Hans Zimmer - "S.T.A.Y" Interstellar OST |

There are a few songs out there that can grab me by the feels. Two are by Jason Isbell. Yes, I know he is a libtard of the highest order but dammit, the guy can write a song and play a guitar. The first is "Elephant" and the other is " If We Were Vampires".
"Elephant" is a hard look at dying from cancer and "Vampires" looks at the prospect of life after losing a spouse. |

Amazing Grace always has, but there are some that get to me because they remind me of Martini Butt (late wife/Linda).
We saw Jessica Simpson in concert, and when she was singing this song, Linda was slow dancing and holding/leaning against me. Since she died, this one always gets me. Jessica Simpson - I Wanna Love You Forever Miranda Lambert did a song about loss, and it stuck with me once I paid attention to the lyrics. I used it to set music to a bunch of pics of Linda, in 2018. (Ten year anniversary of her death). My late wife - Linda - 10 Year |

Well this one is really sad. The singer's son was stillborn and this is the song he wrote.
If You Are To Bloom I'm thinking of your wide open eyesSmiling as they feed the nerves That push the field of silver and the colorful lines Like only you could see, like only you could do I'm picturing forcep in ice That you would see if you could reach And reconnect the engine to the delicate lens But I just sit and wait for a blip to break the perfect little Then green line I dreamt of jet-less high Seeing clouds from the other side And rolling softly until the underbelly shines And the back skims through the steam Feeding upturned mouths and sprinkling away A dusty sleep you took too soon And you need watering if you are to bloom I'm thinking of your failing green eyes Smiling as they greet the day They can't see me And now I'm picturing us opening up wide Drinking down our days in haze and bliss Together till it stumbles aside But I just sit and wait for a rhythm in a perfect little Feeling It's true So soon And the coil speaks I'd like to see us together I'd like to lay my head low I need to lean on a soft one And bring the spin of the world to a halt And the coil sleeps And you've been gathering angels And fading further each day I love you right now as I never Remember my face as it quietly you make your rain I dreamt of jet-less high Seeing clouds from the other side And rolling softly until the underbelly shines And the back skims through the steam Feeding upturned mouths and sprinkling away A dusty sleep you took too soon And you need watering if you are to bloom |

Yes that's the one I was talking about. I really try to compartmentalize because it takes me to a place I don't want to be. Never watched the video don't think I could even see the end. There's another song by 5 finger death punch that I saw the video years ago that did it to me This side of heaven I think.
