For this particular exercise I'm referring to straight-line acceleration.
Mine was a '96 Z28. Went high 11's at around 120. Laughable nowadays but respectable 20yrs ago for a DD. Attached File |
|
Fastest off the line was a 2015 Mustang GT PP
Favorite with highest top speed was a '88 928 s4 5 speed. Had it past 160 and it had more to give. Rated top speed over 170 |
|
1967 Firebird convertible 455ci and wicked fast. Never timed it though; wasn’t allowed on the track
|
|
97 gmc Sonoma with a V6 vortex - that thing was light and would haul ass
not very dependable though and cheaply built quality wise |
|
I don’t think 11s are laughable, even today.
The fastest I owned was a ‘09 CTS sedan with a 6-speed manual. It was probably a 15 second car (I’ve owned some slow stuff :D). |
|
My 68 Camaro. 800hp in pump gas.
I am working in my CTSV currently. Should be around 700. When I am finished. |
|
Finished- the 68 Firebird that was my daily in San Diego when I was in the USN (early 90s).
Ran a 13.3 @104 with shit traction. 455 with 4x heads, Ultradyne cam, T400 with a TCI 2500 stall. Sold for a song in 2007. Unfinished- 53 F100 about to receive an LS swap. 243 heads, 6.0 LQ9, still deciding on the cam. I'll be happy to get it into the 12's and run on pump gas. |
|
Fast? Couldn't say.
But it is pretty snappy. 2700lbs and a pile of the torks make for a fun ride. Attached File |

Current car, hit 135 right before they opened the new toll lanes when they were open but empty, started getting tunnel vision from the rush and had to slow down because I didn’t want to be buried in a ziploc bag

I had a 2 year fling with a low mileage C5 Z06. It had a blower and I loved that car. Put about 10k on the clock and sold it for more than what I had in it. Highly recommend the same for anyone interested.

2700 pound ‘87 Porsche 930 makes 550 at wheels. Not quick out of the hole.
|
|
1969 Chevelle. Runs 9.80's if I take some of the steel out of the trunk. Sitting in my shop ready to go.

71 Red Firebird V-8 350 w rebuilt 69 LeMans engine . Higher compression w 3 speed auto .
Plenty fast for a 20 year old . My fav car . Till I wrecked it . |
|
|
‘71 dodge demon with a 440 . 11.20’s in street trim about 35 years ago . Modern factory cars would smoke it nowadays .
|
|
2001 BMW 540i 6 speed. Limited to 156. Was a lot of fun walking away from one of them new neon turbo deals that thought he was a hot shot. Stayed pretty close up until 140, then I just walked away from him.

OP, your trap speed suggests that car had more to give. It's fast by any standard.
For me: 1967 F-Body, 355 11:1 solid lifter SBC 4 speed with every trick in the book for 1986, including water/alcohol injection to permit full timing with the 11:1 CR. Low 13's. might have run mid/high 12's with a steeper axle and drag radials. Had the MPH to suggest that it had more to give. 2009 G8 GXP, they were high 12 cars from the factory Roomie and fellow engineer built a '67 F-body with a TT 400 SBC back then too. He hand built everything except the turbo snails himself, including the fuel enrichment system. He had a good relationship with Gale Banks from hours on the phone talking tech. The car was brutal for the day, running 100 MPH in the 1/8th mile, spinning the used slicks we had on it all the way down the track. They told us not to come back without a cage and firesuit! I spent many a night riding shotgun for street racing in that car. Also got to drive some big time cars when I was at Ford, including the Boss 604 show/race car that was built for the 0-100-0 showdown with Chevy (Ford won). One of the cars I was personally responsible for in the test fleet was a 1994 928 GTS. It was a hoot on the proving grounds! Also drove several of the early Terminator Cobra prototypes, and later had the keys to a very special 2009 Bullitt Mustang with a prototype variable speed supercharger on it. |

My Mustang Ecoboost.
I drove trucks & Jeeps for 30 years prior. |

See avatar. Cams, full system, derestricted, tuned, regeared.

Quoted: 2017 911 Turbo. It's a monster in Sport+, then if you push the overboost button, it is just insane. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/51455/317760264_1229610314636073_4483074310192-2624458.jpg View Quote Fucking beautiful! |

Finally had to chain the engine down. |

Fastest 0-60? All probably pretty close to each other, right around 7.5-8.5 seconds. Several were more sporty looking, but the fastest performer was probably an Infiniti I30. Had an NSX as a daily driver for a couple months, but it was my father's, not mine.

I had a not-stock 96 Firebird TA. I had built it for road racing, but most of my friends were drag racers. Took it to Englishtown and got banned when I ran a 12.8@144. they basically said come back when I could pass tech for the 9s.
Attached File My current car, a slightly modded 2017 Z06 went 10.34@132, on fresh Cup2s, with a friend who is a semi-pro drag racer driving. Same day the best I could do was 10.99. Great track prep and good weather. I've had it to just over 185 on a road course. Attached File |

8.6 at 167mph if memory serves me right. Attached File

My Tesla model 3 performance
I had a Camaro SS that was pretty quick too but the model 3 would beat it in 1/4 mile for sure |
|
1972 Chevy G10 van. 350: 3 speed manual.
Probably faster than I ever drove . |
|
|
|
I don't think that I have ever owned one.
My fastest have probably either been my 1969 Pontiac Cutlass, or my aftermarket turbocharged Pontiac Solstice (but who the hell runs a ragtop for speed?). |

My 2001 BMW 530i. Picked it up in Munich and ran it up to 161 mph going down to Italy.

|
My Cobra has been 11.6@ 116.
Not crazy fast, but it's pretty reliable and has put many a smile on my face. |

Top: 2018 CTS-V that puts down 668rwhp/ 658rwtq (~800bhp). 8spd auto.
Second: 2013 ZL1 that puts down 590rwhp/ 576rwtq (~675bhp). 6spd man. Third: 2000 SS that put down 458rwhp/ 410rwtq (~525bhp). 6spd man. Sold it and the funds went towards the ZL1. |
