Toxic Avenger. As far as cheesy monster movies go, this is one of the best.

That was a fairly common theme in the '70s, especially TV movie sort of deals. I vaguely remember one that was about ants rising up and killing everyone and everything, big massive piles of ants...not giant ants, or mutant ants just...ants. Now I'm sorry I remember that, it was sooooo bad. View Quote |

There's a 70's movie called Squirm where earthworms rise up and fuck everyone over. Earthworms. Coming out of the water pipes, raining down from the sky, coming out of the ground, earthworms everywhere. Eating people. I always suspected that Tremors was a ripoff of Squirm. View Quote |

C.H.U.D scared the living shit out of me as a small child. Even in its neutered version for broadcast tv. Now I wish there were lots of them. fav movie quote is from House: "Damn! Come back from the dead and run out of ammo!" |

You brought up Legend. The devil in that movie was pretty freaking scary good. As a kid, the movie Gargoyles scared the crap out of me. I haven't seen it since I was a kid, and I haven't found it on netflix or hulu. I want to watch it with my kids see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alUFKzUuudI |

Cool topic!
Who here remembers the movie "The Stuff"? I thought it was pretty creative. You can't have a stranger monster than some evil alien soft-serve. The Stuff - 1985 (Charlie Explodes) HD |

I don't like horror, so while I don't have a favorite per se, my least favorite would be the aliens from Signs. The way the musical chord struck during the found footage scene of the kids birthday party, gave me nightmares as a kid for a long time. View Quote |

When I was about 4 or 5 years old I saw a movie called "Them." Large ants killing/eating people.
I can still see, in my mind, the ant grab the cop from behind and drag him into the basement of the old store. The ant coming up out of the ground/ant hill with the human ribcage in it's mouth to drop on a pile of human bones. That movie kept me scared of the dark for a long, long time. |

Attack of the Crab Monsters fucked with my head as a kid. Filmed in '57, but on the late night horror shows for many years throughout the '60's.
Not sure if the same movie, but one where a giant monster rose out of the sea and they killed it by tying high voltage power lines from a generator to frying pans or something, and threw them into the ocean and electrocuted the monster. |
