Is this going to be like the F22 where we only buy 6 of them, making the cost per aircraft to be some astronomically high number, then mothball, repurpose and scrap all of the tooling to build more?

Hard to believe that as advanced as the B-2 is, it was designed in the early '80s. Unreal.

View Quote The F-22's stealth capability is better than most. If the Chinese system works and is deployed (lab testing and operational systems are not the same thing), this would almost certainly limit the B-21's usefulness |

One of the reasons for NGAD is to reduce low band detect ability, where the wneny isn’t sure where you are but can see you’re somewhere up there. |

When you're so poor that you can't even afford a boat or a plane ticket to leave, it's pretty hard for you to go jihad. Not at all. They'll just jihad at home. Which is why the Gulf countries totally, by pure accident, encouraged a lot of their problem children to GTFO and become Iraq or elsewhere's problems during the relevant time in question. That it would terminally destabilize efforts to make a secular democracy, within a region where literally every other country not Israel is a more or less absolute monarchy, was a nice bonus. Do you think a random 9th son in Riyadh or Muscat just stuck out his thumb and hitched his way to Iraq/Afghanistan/Syria to become just another AGM member? They found domestic networks in the right places to identify the perpetually dissatisfied, and make those people someone else's problem. Related effect in Mexico, BTW. If you forced them to stay out, made the US border resemble the Korean DMZ, and put serious teeth in immigration enforcement within ag/construction/hospitality employment, you'd have another Mexican Revolution inside of 5 years. And the one with Diaz and Villa was pretty bad. |

I did see one that looked HUGE for a minute or two..I've written about it a couple of times in the past. Another chief and I got lost in the dark on the far side of Nellis' ramp, where they'd parked our MH-53s, and I came very, very close to running a pickup truck into a B-2 taxing into parking. Aircraft never even slowed, I'm fairly certain he never saw us driving with just marker lights. I still have a little ringing in my right ear from Chief S. screaming at me to brake. Wingspan comparison: B-52 = 185'...B-2 = 172'...B-21 estimated to be 132' View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I like the sky grey color, bet it’s cooler also. Quoted: That is so cool View Quote I'll spare you religious stuff, but I'll definitely shit on the East. They're like "idk do what the west does or something" The west legit looks at the world around them, sees concepts that works and tries them. There's a BUNCH of DARPA sea projects which tried to imitate locomotion of fish. The entire idea was "Clearly fish do this pretty well, maybe there's something to being a fish? Maybe we should try to imitate the fish to get a good underwater propulsion system." Combine that with scientific knowledge of the world around us, to include trying to legit understand how sound waves work and that's what we're doing. This is why Russia and China are so gay. They're trying to steal or imitate our designs, but their stupid eastern brains don't even understand why we went with that design. They have no appreciation for the world around them or actual science because they are so gay. Meanwhile, we're here saying "That bird or fish works really well, why does it work? Oh holy shit we studied it, pretty crazy" |

The B-21's exhausts, which are historically a very sensitive low-observable feature, are totally unseen in this image. Overall, this side-on image gives us an idea of just how smooth and flowing the B-21 design truly is. While having much in common with its predecessor the B-2, it is clearly a major leap in stealth technology.
