I was an Infantryman during my first enlistment and then a FISTer. The meme is true because POG stands for Person Other then Grunt and if you're not an Infantryman, you're not a Grunt. It grinds my gears when I see FISTers with whom I served refer to themselves as Grunts. Hell, I even saw one refer to himself as a combat infantryman once during a Facebook argument. No, motherfucker, if you don't have an 11-series or 03xx-series MOS, you are not an Infantryman, no matter how many deployments you have as a platoon FO.
That's the problem with the fairly recently adopted replacement of pogue with POG. One can be a POG without being a pogue. Similarly, one can be a pogue without being a POG. Some 11B4O assigned to a Division HQ wouldn't be a POG, but he's certainly a pogue, aka a REMF. A platoon FO or medic, while definitely a POG, is most certainly not a pogue. |

From my dad, a retired Coastie.
Q: What's the difference between a Ferarri and a Navy Wife? A: No Coastie has ever been in a Ferarri. |

My wife is ex-Navy, and she says that this is untrue.

Did she ever deploy and/or work 80+ hour weeks on a regular basis? If the answer is yes, then I'm guessing she drank a shitload of Cokes. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

She's not denying that coffee is needed, sorry if I gave that impression. She drank coffee by the gallon. And yes, being a deck seaman, she stood plenty of 80+ hour watches. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Omg. I never served a day in my life in the Navy. And I was laughing uncontrollably for like 5 minutes straight.
