I opted for the nano as I've heard the software on the DJI is limiting due to the geofencing (But don't know beyond hearsay). I do use the dji website to check the geofenced areas before I fly just to be safe. As a non-experienced drone pilot atleast basic controls were pretty easy to get started. It starts out in beginner mode so limited distance performance altitude. I'd advise getting the bundle with spare batteries if they still offer it. Flight time was severely limited but I flew it up at 10,000ft in pretty gusty environment. The first start up you will need to update software, which was an annoying as I made waited to have an hour or two without the kids around, then wasted most of it updating and charging batteries. |

I believe all TX/RX for both flight control and video is done on something akin to wi-fi. It's a direct connection between drone and phone/controller, no going through any other network or anything. I believe the new Parrot Anafi uses 4G, but I think even that means that the drone-controller link uses that technology/ frequency for a direct connection rather than actually getting on anyone's cellular network. Seems like any data moving across a cell network would incur fees from the network owner, which you never have to pay AFAIK. |
