Ham license. Good idea
I need to get on that, too.
It was much easier than I expected.  Just do a bunch of practice tests.

Of course, I just have a General license.  I think the Extra exam is quite a bit harder.
Which one(s) do you HAVE to have? Do you need a Technicians before you can get the General? Can you go straight for the general and it covers the Technicians also?
It's a sequence. You have to have the lower class to get the next class up. But you can take all the tests at the same time.

That's what I was figuring.
If you pass one level they'll typically ask if you want to try for the next. You might as well since it's free and can't hurt anything. Unless you're testing under Laurel VEC which does it all for free anyway.

When I took General I hadn't even looked at the Extra material. I passed General easily so I gave Extra a shot since I was already sitting there. Got something like 48%
Looks like it's administered by these guys
Yep, they're usually just some local radio guys who have volunteered to help out with testing.  IIRC there's some kind of certification involved with being an examiner.  That was one of the subjects on the General test that I immediately forgot after I passed.

Looking at it now.
I used HamStudy.org.  It was free.  I also downloaded a practice test app to my phone so I could study in my spare time when I wasn't at home.

Also also, the No Nonsense Study Guide is really good.  It's a PDF file you can buy online.  It gives you all the test answers but also explains why the correct answer is the correct one.
Just took the practice test totally blind.

You’ll get a better understanding of how it works once you start studying since the testing process is covered on the test.

Creativity is great, especially whiskey fueled redneck engineering.  Hell, the dremel CZ thread is one of the best things I've seen in ages.

I cannot identify a single redeeming quality of that abomination.  If it had any semblance of a drive train, or even evidence that the builder had considered that it might eventually need one, it might not be irredeemable, but even that's asking too much.

Fantastic observation

A friend and I tried making a gokart out of a lawnmower once.  Not a rider, a push mower.  It was substantially more structurally sound than that.  Hell, we even had a brake - another think conspicuously absent on that one.

What gets me the most, is all that 'fab' and effort for what, 10" of suspension travel?
