Having the top of your ticket held by some guy that's only popular with the "over 55 white male with no college degree" crowd is going to crush you outside of the reddest of red districts. Which is exactly what we saw in 2018. Had nothing to do with policy. Exit polling will certainly show that the media did its job for the 2018 midterms. Compare that exit polling with 2016.
