I don't know... all things considered, a lot of gore/nudity in most movies today is pretty on par/tame with what was out in the 70's and 80's horror and exploitation films... The 90's and early 2000's were just SUPER milquetoast. |

I'm assuming the people freaking out over this movie have never watched any of the cartel execution videos. "Funkytown" comes to mind.

After seeing how many people were "disturbed" by the Dahmer series, and then watching that snoozefest myself, I don't trust these reviews. It's probably just the movie producers trying to get it more attention.

Similar to porn, it takes more and more of something or a more deviant expression to elicit the same thrill after a while. The first Terrifier was quite creepy in terms of the clown actor. I give him some props for that. But the script was stupid and implausible. So what did you have left? Shock from the gore. The scary thing is the blurred lines between porn and horror. It’s why people are out there trying to find snuff films online and there’s often a porn intersection with that fascination. There’s something dark in a back corner of the psyche that both porn and gore appeals to. I do worry that the % of people into that sort of thing expands as it’s easier to get a hold of. |

In a year stacked with good horror movies, Terrifier 2 might end up being my favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the first, it was okay but other the practical effects, there wasn't really much to it. This sequel went off rails into absurdity and I loved it.
The actor playing Art has previous mime experience, and really can convey a lot of character without speaking. There is a few funny scenes of him being an obnoxious clown, messing with people. There's a 15 minute nightmare scene that is far more unsettling and dream like than anything Nightmare on Elm Street could hope for. I loved that the last act starts turning into a heavy metal fantasy music video. The first movie had basically no plot at all, this and this one isn't that deep either but it's added some lore to Art and is creating some interesting world building. I can't wait to see where they go with it in the third one. The gore and violence is extreme, and will be too much for some. But it's stylized in such a over the top way, that it becomes cartoonish. In the particular scene getting notoriety, Art pull out a 10lb bag of salt and is literally packing handfuls of it in his victims wounds while throwing his head back and miming laughter. The kills are very brutal, but some of the edge is taken off by how outlandish and absurd the violence is, but without ever crossing the line into becoming actually funny to watch. |

I didn’t like the first one. It was a generic slasher, just with some overly sadistic murders. If that’s your thing, cool, but I’m not really interested in seeing a sequel.

You've never fantasized about hanging a naked woman upside-down and sawing her in half from her taint to her throat? What kind of pervert aren't you? Oh, sorry, when I said bad, I meant crappy. There was no character back story/development, the effects were meh, and the script was for shit. It made the gore seem fake and the characters seem plastic. I had no sympathy for their stupid actions. Something completely trashy like Don't Fuck In The Woods was Academy Award material in comparison. What kind of perv am I? I am a deplorable one. |

Quoted: The gore was pertinent and not gratuitous. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: True. The Thing (1982) is a notable exception. The gore was pertinent and not gratuitous. The Thing was more body horror than gore. While there was some graphic violence, it’s tame compared to many violent movies today. |

Theres a death by sawing scene in the first film. A naked womam hanging upside, legs spread, he ran the saw down her body sagittally starting from the crotch.
Why people watch torture/murder porn for the thrill I have no idea. Theres a thrill from watching a murder mystery, action movie, revenge movie..... How the fuck is watching people get butched a thrill??! Tried watching one of the saw movies and one of the hostle movies. Felt like I needed a shower. |

There's a clear distinction between movies about ghosts & the supernatural, vs slashing & murder.
Never found entertainment in movies that depict murder, rape, and disfiguring. Can see that in 3rd world America every day in the news. |

Quoted: Why do people watch this garbage? View Quote Same reason people like your avatar. Lizard brain. It's the reason psychosexual serial killers are both terrifying and fascinating. Their sex power lizard brain connects with the kill power lizard brain, something that doesn't happen in normal brains except in darker fantasies. Popular horror movies tap into those fantasies. Look at movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Slumber Party Massacre, etc. - all of them mix sexual tension with gruesome murder. Even the more recent 'torture porn' movies like Hostel use that trope. The hot chicks lure the boys, who end up getting brutally killed. Lizard brain. |

Upon its release in select theaters, fans immediately started tweeting their reactions to the slasher movie. Damion Leone, director The extreme reactions sparked the director, Leone, to reportedly tweet out to fans, "To everyone saying that reports of people fainting and puking during screenings of Terrifier 2 is a marketing ploy, I swear on the success of the film it is NOT. These reports are 100% legit. I wish we were smart enough to think of that…But then again we didn’t need to." Leone is also credited as doing special effects makeup for the movie. Producer Steve Barton issued an ominous warning to viewers, sharing a warning statement, but not before saying, "We aren't done yet." While many had what would be considered a less than positive reaction, many fans on Twitter shared their excitement at the possibility of being so tormented by a movie. I hate to sound like an old geezer but this shit isn’t good for people. Certainly not for young developing minds.
I read the ‘parents guide’ on IMDB, which is basically a content breakdown re: nudity, violence, language, etc. I don’t remember the details but it apparently includes graphic mutilation/death of children, graphic dismemberment, cannibalism, and other completely over the top extreme stuff. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt10403420/parentalguide/violence |
