How America Almost Destroyed The Comic Book Industry Ah censorship. As American as Apple Pie. |
|
I would say that the new production American comic book industry is dead, just being subsidized by woke money.
Eventually it will just cease. |

Japanese media has largely replaced it. Look at how Demon Slayer blew out the box office when it debuted. Expect Chainsawman to make a similar splash when it is animated. They at least understand people want to see people with superpowers beat the fucking shit out of each other, not gay superboy making out with his best friend who is also a PoC.

Much wailing, gnashing of teeth and other senseless posturing in the Halls of Congress.
I was in my mid-teens at the time and my brother and I had an extensive library of "horror" comics. Our parents thought they were funny, updated "Phantom Of The Opera"-style thrills from their teen years (1925). Edgar Allen Poe was one of Mom's favorite authors. After we went off to college, the collection was trashed. Maybe worth some money today. |

My comment relates to taking existing established characters and making them gay or having a gay alternate version. It’s ridiculous. How did the latest gay batgirl movie do? Oh that’s right it flopped and never got released. I’d venture to say most people are tired of seeing this stuff. |

Americans can make good media... they just don't. Look at Avatar the Last Airbender. An excellent hero's journey animated feature of consistently high quality, enjoyable by all ages, and well done by any account. And followed up with a sequel that ended up crashing the boat with a lesbo protagonist who ruined fucking everything. And it's not like Avatar was a white centric world- it was diverse in every way and not the slightest bit offensive, with strong women characters throughout who made sense. The sequel, not so much. Western media is just going to keep desecrating the same properties forever until we have 50 different batman trilogies and a spiderman reboot biannually. |

If modern kids could go back in time and have the same access to the entertainment I had, without encountering woke bullshit, they would weep bitterly for what they have to swallow now.

Stopped collecting in the late 1990s when I got a car. Started collecting again in 2011 with DCs New 52 and got back out in 2014 when shit stared turning to wokeness. Some kids do have access to the non-woke stuff. Lucky. I used to love Warner Brothers' cartoons as a kid. Some of the humor was subtle but definitely politically incorrect. A friend bought the videos for their kids and we watched several one day. I remember a lot of them well enough to know they've been edited for various content. Sad. Fucking sad. |
