Quoted: Right now not much going on in east Hillsborough County. Not even any rain. More like a typical summer evening. Not much wind. We had an earlier band but that is long past. Right now the eyewall is not that far from being even with Tampa. I think it is because the storm shifted a little westward and is 120 miles out to sea instead of the 60-80 miles that were predicted yesterday. I know it will pick up later but maybe we can get through the night without a power loss. i hate getting out the generator. View Quote EDIT: I'm an idiot. I thought you said Alachua County, not Hillsborough. :o |

Not much in Bradenton so far. Some rain and occasional bursts of rain. Nothing exceptional but we still have to get through the night.

It's coming in about an hour or so. It's down off the coast of Cape Coral now. It looks like it will come in vertically so we won't get the skinny horizontal wave. We may get a long, extended wave. Hopefully, the coastline can break things up a bit--which is what has been happening so far. |

Still now here on the east coast. What came through dropped about and inch and a half.

Starting to get rain from outer bands….. one thing I’ve noticed strange….. is that we’re getting a ton of lightning! Typically hurricanes don’t produce a lot of lightning! And never seen it in all the hurricanes I’ve been through!Weird!

Quoted: I'm about 30 minutes inland from Fort Myers on the boat and it's been really mild here today - until it wasn't. We had some rains and winds in the 20 knot range, but generally boring. Then about 30 minutes ago we had a vortex land on us with 58 knot winds blowing in a big circle. Yes, like a tornado although I don't think that would qualify as one. Such things are a little spooky when your house starts flying around in random directions. I last saw that little system heading directly north.... View Quote I can attest to that! Was sitting on the back porch one late afternoon during a normal summer shower. It was kinda gusty but nothing really abnormal. All of a sudden this faint freight train noise winds up and a big ass swirl started in the middle of my back yard with easily 60 mph winds wooshing in and up, pulling leaves and debris up from the grass. No sooner than I could scramble outta the chair and get the slider closed it was gone (like instantly vanished) and all the leaves were falling back down. Really spooky for sure to see something spin up that fast outta NOWHERE and just vaporize. |

North of Atlanta at my daughter's soccer practice just a little while ago. It was like God turned off the lights. Picture does it no justice. I have a feeling it will stay this way for the next few days.

Back in the 90's, I had week long annual work in small banks in places like Williston, Chiefland, Bronson.
I always made a point to eat at least once in Cedar Key then drive back to the hotel in Gainesville. I hope Cedar Key is not wiped off the map. |

I am in western Alachua county. So far a few thunderstorms, I am high and dry, unfortunately live in a mobile home. We shall see. So far so good. If it tracks further east over me I am fucked. Let me save everyone some time. I have a will, my son gets all my guns. Yes my wife is hot, but she has to wait one year after I die.
I don't know how people do this with out bourbon..... |

pretty cool place still. Cedar Key still keeps Florida what Florida is for being a tourist town. "failure to quote" see below

Stay safe everyone. Our house on the east side of Florida seems like it will be out of the path for now. Keeping our fingers crossed. Prayers to those in the path.

Had one band pass through hours ago, then nothing.
Just started raining again with a little bit of wind in Lithia. |

Hoping for the best for our Florida members . Y’all stay safe !

It's picking up here. Winds are pretty stiff but not ripping off shingles or roofs. Lots of rain. A bit of lightning. Nothing unexpected or to worry about yet.

Are there reports of most people evacuating from the projected landfall area?
