So a customer just came into my place of business. I have that real sweet larue screen saver running on my office computer. He sees the ARs and we start talking guns. He tells me he has a huge collection, even a "real deal M240B that he brought back from Iraq". Now I used to be in the army, and i'm a fairly sharp fellow, so needless to say I asked a few questions.
Me how did you do that? Him: I was a 240 gunner, it was my issued weapon. Me: yea, but uhhh...you don't get to keep it. right? Him: well technically, no, but you just gotta know what you're doing! Me: really? like what? how did you get it? Him: Oh one time when we took contact I said it was lost in the fire fight, but I broke it down and hid it IN MY RUCK SACK. Me: ............. Him: yea, then when I got back to base I hid it in my foot locker till I left country. Me: I was in the army. You're a liar. Please leave Him: Naw man, Im for real I got one at home! Me: ok then, i'm calling the ATF. How about that? Him: I don't have to take being called a liar, IM LEAVING. Then he walked out. I thought about following him and punching him. WTF is wrong with people? |

It happens more often then you think. What? Taking weapons home or lying about it? |
|
You should have offered him $50k for it...then have the ATF on standby for when he comes back with it.
Surely there must be a reward for that kind of thing? But yeah, chances are he was just plain full of shit. Aw hell, you should have just taken his plate # and called ATF about it. |
|
He HID a M240 in his ruck? Was he 8 feet tall? I want to know what kind of ruck would fit an M240...

Quoted: It happens more often then you think. Yeah like the time I entered Quantico to vist Quantico Arms when the were still located in Q-town, well I found this pile of M'16's leanin against a tree so I figured somebody forgot them so I put them in my truck and when I left base they asked me where I got them and I said leaning against a tree on base so they said "Oh, OK" and let me keep them so I gave them to all my friends. True story bro. |

NTM the 'lost in combat' story wouldn't fly unless people saw it get blown to bits... |

I dunno man, I think he's telling the truth. Anything is possable, last deployment one guy made it to atlanta airport with 2 handgrenades going on R&R leave. The only reason he got cought was because he went outside to smoke and had to go back through security. |
|
So this guy claims the 240 was lost in combat but somehow got it back to base without anyone noticing. Then, when a 240 turns up missing, they don't think to ask him or search his stuff.
The guy is a lousy liar, he doesn't even know enough about the Army to tell a convincing story. |

We're not talking an M9 ...were talking a goddamn crew served weapon here. |

you should have told him to check something out on your computer and pulled up the cool story bro pic and then booted his ass... lol

MYOB And story FAIL Hey...you're in CA. I'm in CA... ..... WAS THAT YOU?! |

He probably meant the M249, still a liar, but that is probably what he meant.

Quoted: you're a tattle tale How so? The guy's a thief. My tax-payer dollars paid for that 240B to be in service, not to adorn his mom's basement. He didn't just steal from the Army, he stole from all of us. |
|
Even if you did go to his house and he really did whip one out, it'd be a semi-auto that be bought here in the US.

Yep guy on my softball team told me he kept his "M16 and M9" when he came back from Iraq....I just said ok
|
|
Riiiggghhttttt..........
And I have E.T. in my fridge. If he actually had the time to break down a M240B in or immediately after a firefight... If he actually had the space in the ruck... If he had the thought to actually attempt it... If he managed to hide it during the remainder of the tour... If he made it through all the unit inspections... If he made it through customs, possibly twice... If the commercial charter crews and security didn't catch it... If no dogs were used... If after all that... he MIGHT have an actual M240B. Then he tells a gunshop guy? Rrriiiggghhhtttt......... Not that I would mind having one, though. |
|
did you get a pic of the guy....security camera footage or some such....if so call the ATF and tell them about this guy.
|
|
I totally think that story is true. Last time I was in.....umm.....Afghanistan I singlehandedly captured Osama.
I keep him chained up in my basement and beat him regularly. |

Knew a Sgt at Camp geiger who supposedly brought back an m240, one peice at a time. Except the receiver though.

I believe it. Its like that time I broke down our MK19 and took it home in my cargo pocket. Piece of cake.

I could believe a thieving douche "losing" an M9, or maybe even an M4, and coming up with a creative (and probably expensive) way to get it back involving third world countries and not a little smuggling... but a 240B? A four foot, 30 pound monstrosity of a LMG?

Quoted: Quoted: did you get a pic of the guy....security camera footage or some such....if so call the ATF and tell them about this guy. Nah, MYOB and never invite the man and all that... is the stupidest thing to say, ever... There is absolutely NO reason to 'MYOB' when crime is involved - esp theft of weapons from the .ml... With that said, in this case it is very, very obvious that this guy is a poser... The closest he ever got to Iraq was probably watching 'Body of Lies' on HBO... P.S. For thefts from the US Army: www.cid.army.mil - not ATF. |

it breaks down into a 3 few sub 3' pieces (barrel receiver stock) but i still call BS. A weapon doesnt disapear with out the army looking EVERYwhere for it. The mp brigade on my fob lost a couple pistols and they spent days going door to door asking if anyone found one, raking mud puddles etc.
