Well, debt finally caught up with me. I make 70k a year, have a career, but don't have a dollar. I'm paying back 1200 a month to my 401k loan (last payment will be in march), and I have 12k in cc debt. I got paid Friday, and had 140$ left a few hours later after paying my bills. I drank that 140$ last night. Someone bought groceries for me, if it wasn't for that I'd have no food either. So, anybody have any weekend job opportunities in San Antonio? No, no weird shit, I'm not that desperate.

Go thru your house and find the 5 items worth something you have not used in 6 months or more and sell em. If you have not used em in the last 6 months you dont need em, as much as you need cash.

With kid medical bills and a huge drop in work at my shop, my wife and I are looking at working 4 engineering jobs between us to try to get way ahead of the coming storm.
I have zero faith in any current political solutions. |

I’m about to be in the same situation although I make more than 70k. It’s still going to take awhile to dig myself out of stupidity. Like others have said sell some shit around your house you don’t need. I hate selling guns but it’s a easy and quick money. |

You spent $140 on alcohol and someone else had to buy you groceries? It sounds like your problem is alcohol.
Get some help. |

Sounds like you need Dave Ramsey's total money makeover. Also stop drinking. Good luck.

Being a tightwad helps. My advice would be to tighten things up.

Damn, $1200 a month to pay off a 401k loan?
You could have used that 401k loan to pay off your $12k credit card note. And instead of drinking away whatever you have left of your paycheck after bills you should buy groceries instead. Your priorities are all fucked up. |

Let me know when you're desperate enough for weird shit. It won't hurt.

If you hadnt of spent 140.00 drinking last night I would of shot you some money on venmo. Make better choices. Vodka from the pharmacy, turn your lights off and drink in the dark like the rest of us for 12.89.

Did you not consider spending that $140 on groceries instead of booze?
|
|
You blew $140 at a bar?
Quit drinking or learn to drink moderately, at home for much cheaper |

Why do I keep seeing people put the dollar sign after the quantity? Did I miss the memo?

If you're broke, buy a cheap bottle from the store not a $140 tab at the bar. |

He's made some really good money but student loan debt and cc debt are drowning him. He gets calls from debt collectors. Still managed to maintain a TS/SCI though. I didn't know his finances well but it seemed to me he continued to make a lot of poor choices. He couldn't afford a car and lived in a very cheap apartment. But he spent money on high end camera gear and other stuff. Seemed too stressful to live like that. I dunno. He was a generally unhappy guy. Sounds like you have an exit strategy. Stick with it and get out. |

Uber/Doordash/Instacart/Taskrabbit, etc? Pay isn't great but you can work or not work whenever you want.

You want advise? It seems pretty simple, stop drinking so much.
Sounds like you have a drinking problem, and possibly depression. Not being a jerk, go get some help man, it's only embarrassing if you know you need the help and don't take it. |

Maybe dont drink away your last $140 in a night?
I spent less than that on a telehealth call and prescription for naltrexone. Coming up on 3 years sober. Why the hell you have such shit debt? |

I can't add a thing. Everything I would have told you has been said several times.
