1999 isuzu vehicross. 167k miles, but runs and drives great. The ride is rough as fuck, but all of these do. They're actually built on a Trooper frame.
I bought it from a buddy who's hard up for money. His ex took a 9 iron to the windshield, so it needs replaced and will also need a starter soon too. Leather interior is about a 7/10. Should I get it painted, or maybe get it rhino-lined? Attached File Attached File Attached File Did I mention this thing has recaro leather seats? They need recovering but aren't terrible. Good score. Those usually sell for significantly more than you paid.

That is some finely faded plastic, but I agree with the other guy in that I would have expected it to sell for much more than that these days.
$1000 for something runs and drives and will last more than a year is a steal. |

Quoted: Good score. Those usually sell for significantly more than you paid. View Quote Yep i believe he gave 3500 for it a few years ago. I was surprised he let it go so cheap, but he is in a bad spot. I said I'd sell it back to him when he gets back on his feet, plus the cost of whatever I decide to do to it. |

Do those have the glass GM transmission like the trooper?
4L30 if I remember right. Sealed transmission with no dipstick. I had a 02 trooper. It was an amazing vehicle with the exception of the transmission. After the 3rd transmission in two years, I traded that fucker off. |

Congrats on the weird score.
The vehicross things were interestingly strange. |

Duct tape on windshield is a nice touch.
Somebody needed to say it, |

Cool!
I would have bought that for that money. Surprised to hear the windshields aren't bespoke and hard to come by. There is a local guy with a really clean, decently modified one that I see on occasion. Rare beasts that are pretty cool to see. Couple of years ago there was a really clean Amigo in a local junkyard, likely a victim of or asinine smog check program. |

Nice patina... SERIOUSLY!
I like the weathered look, looks good against the silver paint. Strip the clear coat and that thing really would look bad ass! |

Shit I never knew about those. That looks fucking awesome. My beater ride addiction is twitching now.

Always thought those were amazing looking. Don't know much about 'em, but LOVE the lines.

Seems to shift fine for now, I don't plan on pushing it hard but you never know. That stinks. That trooper I had was my absolute dream SUV. Had the 70/30 rear door. Was amazing off road and in the snow. I hated that it had to go. I know some guys have swapped in 4L80s but it is a big cost. |

Nice score! One has been for sale around here for 7-8x as much. They are pretty rare, I do t think they imported them for very long.

Could you restore the black plastics with a heat gun? Somebody did that to his dad's gator in a recent thread and it turned out awesome.

The drivetrains are the same as the Trooper, which is good. There is no trans dipstick, but that's OK. On the trans oil pan there are two plugs - a high plug and a low plug. The low plug is for draining. The high plug is for filling & checking the ATF level. No big deal. |

I hate you... those are awesome.
Rhino line it and grab some steel wheels |

View Quote Would that be gauche? I know it's been overdone, but I like it better than repainting and restoring the plastic. |

That's crazy. Just this morning I just watched the Doug DeMuro video where he drove the final VehiCROSS every made. It was in awesome shape and I though it would be a great ride. That's so cool that you have one.
