I'm so old, "Trigger" meant Roy Rogers' horse.
Go. |

Man meant born with a dick
Woman meant born without one ETA: I’m not that old |
|
|
Transgendered meant nothing because it was a nonsense word never said by anyone ever.

Phones were gadgets, mounted on the wall, with cords.
Not this super computer, connected to every computer in the world, that I'm posting on. |

Blowing a tranny meant you couldn't drive anywhere for a while.

Talking to yourself meant you were nuts.
Nowadays, might just be Bluetooth. |

What would your reaction be in 1985, if someone said to you, “I’ll text you”?

Dank was cold and wet, now it means something is good.
Slaps was hitting something with an open hand, now it means something is good. Daughter: “Dad, that pizza slaps”. Me: “What does that mean”? Daughter: “It was dank”. Me: “What does that mean”? Daughter: “it was good”. Me: “Oh, okay, good”. There are so many more like that. I have four daughters and the youngest is 16. I’ve learned a lot about today’s youth. |

"That's fucked up" was only applied to a few things...
Now...it's news, lifestyles, people, ideas...everyday & everywhere. |
|
"Racist" meant that you felt that one or more races were inherently inferior.
Now it means that you have a different opinion. |

Comunisim, killing unborn children, sodomy, infidelity, vulgarity, lewdness, were once all bad things.
Patriotism, masculinity, chivalry, god, and family were all good things. I remember what it's like to live in an actual community. And when people solved most of their own problems like in a civilization before the internet nullified people by giving them an infinite feedback loop to complain about them. When anything threatened America; men stood up, bled, and died to preserve it. Those were good times..... |

Him is so old that going to town meant a two day trip on horseback.

Im not old enough to have used it, but i remember WW2 era guys who used the term "cock" for pussy. As in:
"My buddy and me would load up in my cock-wagon and go find some cock about every Saturday night in Anniston. " My brother and i cracked up hearing that. Old dude (Pacific theater fighter pilot) wondered what we found so amusing. Pissed, even. He told us that is what they called pussy "in his day". He was not the only one of that age i heard it from either. Guess it's akin to me cracking up my daughter's friends when i said: "I have remove a bad tranny from my truck." They thought that hilarious. |

I remember when " hero" was reserved for those who endured severe adversity or certain death for the benefit of God, family, or country. War heroes, earners of the CMH, or on the imaginary side guys in tight suits who stood for truth, justice and the American way.
Now it is applied to malcontents, communist sympathizers, self-described victims and anyone in a fireman uniform. |

I’m old enough that when you called someone you didn’t ask “where are you? Or where ya at?” Bc you were calling their house
I’m old enough to remember a time you didn’t worry about locking the doors to your car or home if away for a short period of time |

I'm so old that the only phone color was black, and on top of it you did not own it

That the hand signal for talking on the phone meant using your thumb and pinky extended out.
Seriously, if you have young kids ask them to use their hand to pretend to answer the phone. They'll probably put their flat hand against their ear. |

That's when a sport was a sportAnd groovin' was groovin'
And dancin' meant everything We were young, and we were improvin' Laughin', laughin' with our friends Holdin' hands meant somethin', baby Outside the club Cherry Bomb Our hearts were really thumpin' Say yeah, yeah, yeah Say yeah, yeah, yeah The winter days, they last forever But the weekends went by so quick Went ridin' around this little country town We were goin' nuts, girl, out in the sticks One night, me with my big mouth A couple guys had to put me in my place When I see those guys these days We just laugh and say, "Do you remember when?" |
