It’s crazy this thread popped up. I’ve been watching this at work and all this morning.

One of the best sci-fi shows ever. Great dialogue, great character development.
I really wish JMS would remaster the show and use modern CGI. It would be really awesome to be able to watch this downstairs on the big plasma with new graphics. |

part of. First 2 seasons I think. is 3 done and on Amazon yet? or was it 4 that Amazon picked up? So yeah I think it's good but it hasn't really hooked me. I'm not jonesing for more so to speak. I'm happy it got saved by Amazon and will watch more of it at some point. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I watched it when it was on TV and couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD.
Sadly, they chose to release it on VHS and sales were terrible because everyone knew VHS was dying. This was taken as a sign that there was no demand for the show, so it took years and years for it to finally come out on DVD. |

I still youtube excerpts from B5 now and again..
One of these days I'm going to get the whole thing on DVD.. |

Best Scifi series hands down OP. Starts a bit slow as others have said, but from then on it is excellent.

Just finished the series last night... WoW.. I really enjoyed it... Muddling thru season 1 was the ticket...
Now I have to find a new one.... thinking about Deep space 9 |

Yep. JMS had to rush the Shadow War and cram it into season 4. Which is why we got Space Hippies living in the basement in season 5. Still, B5 is the greatest sci fi show of all time so far for me. Amazing moments. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Man I envy you being able to watch it for the first time. I absolutely love that show. The first season is a bit rocky but it starts to ramp up in season 2. Be sure to check out the movies made for the series and Crusade. Season 5 was a "oh shit, we didn't get cancelled after all and need to come up with something" wrap up to the show and gives some foreshadowing into event that take place between B5 and Crusade and are expounded in the novels. Damn Sierra cancelled the B5 game in the late 90s that would have been the best space simulator of it's time. Numerous groups have made freeware games since, the best being one called I've Found Her. Still, B5 is the greatest sci fi show of all time so far for me. Amazing moments. |

I saw them all when they were first run. I was working night shift and had my wife tape them for me.
Best SF show I've ever seen, bar none. We just started watching it on Amazon. We're still in season 1, but it's still a great show. The graphics of the outside of the station shows the most age, flickering and so forth. The characters and writing are just fantastic. My wife is not a huge SF fan, but she loves Babylon 5. Londo and G'Kar especially. That moon faced assassin of joy line is from the first season, we just saw that episode again. Great stuff. |

Vir Cotto: [stuttering] The council meeting, the emergency session.
Londo Mollari: The council, the council can go to hell, and the emergency session can go to hell. [Vir helps him up - grasping his hand] Londo Mollari: And you, you can go to hell, too, I wouldn't want you to feel left out. |

Another great line, this one from Kosh the Vorlon.
"The avalanche has started, it's too late for the pebbles to vote." Something along those lines. |

My all-time favorite sci-fi show. Watching the characters change and grow over the arc of the series was a real delight.
Favorite Londo quote: "Insanity is part of the times. You must learn to embrace the madness. Let it fire you" |

Gogle it and watch it in order with the movies, or miss out on epic shit. Theres like 7 movies.. Two big ones IMHO - watch "The Gathering" first, then start season 1. And do not watch "In The Beginning" until after season 4 - it reveals things that might spoil some of the first 4 season events. Also watching "Sleeping in Light" and "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars" after season 5 and "A Call to Arms" (and possibly Crusade) makes sense to me. |

I have to say opening your gun ports during a first contact, even if it's a sign of respect, is a policy that may need to be revised.

Season 5 is slow, I miss Ivanava.

I enjoyed it, but I have to major gripes.
1. Sheridan can't take a dump without a speech; and Click To View Spoiler I thought the Shadow War was anti-climactic. You had seasons and seasons of buildup, then its just "Get off my lawn" and over. Felt Deux Ex Machiny.
Otherwise, fantastic show. I liked the post-Shadow War stuff the best. |

Otherwise, fantastic show. I liked the post-Shadow War stuff the best. View Quote Click To View Spoiler Shadow War was supposed to be the whole of Season 4 and the Earth Civil War the whole of season 5. They were told that they wouldn't be getting a season 5 so the had to cram it all into 4... and then they got the 5th... So season 5 sorta wraps things up and goes into some of the after math... There are good episodes... but after how intense season 4 was it just doesn't maintain that energy.

After you've finished, since you also like Star Trek, be sure to watch Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning probably the best (and funniest) fan film of all time of any genre any fictional universe. Oh yea, and its in Finnish so turn on the subtitles. Worth the watch.
