Quoted: Wait is Ohio CHL gtg in Illinois now? I mean if not and you are saying “fuck it” I don’t blame you one bit, more power too ya! View Quote To the best of my knowledge, Illannoy does not recognize CCW permits from ANY other state. That means carrying concealed in IL, as an Ohio resident, will be at your risk. BTW, I have not lived in Illannoy for 25 years, but my friends back there tell me that Oak Brook is still a pretty safe place to travel about. How you GET to Oak Brook from Ohio may or may not involve travelling through sketchy areas, so plan accordingly. I would stay on Interstate 80 until you get to the I-355 north, and then head up towards Oak Brook. That route would avoid virtually any of the usual hellholes. |

Quoted: Illinois does not recognize any other states CCW. If you have an out of state CCW you can have a load gun with you in the car but not outside of it. Also, a lot of restaurants are posted and the signs are not just a suggestion. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Illinois does not recognize any other states CCW. But hey, "you'll never get hurt here, don't carry." |

Are you buying Frank Thomas’ mansion $ 6 million at one time. I think he put his name in he tile on the bottom of his pool so no one wanted it.

Nice suburb of a shitty city. I just spent a week working there and was in a hotel in Oak Brook. Million dollar homes isn’t too ghetto….

Just carry whatever you normally carry. G19, 365, Shield, whatever and a spare mag. But you should be carrying that everywhere regardless of your state laws.
I'm in the same boat, traveling to the Woodlands tomorrow (one of the more pretentious parts of Houston) and I'll be carrying the same thing I always do P365 w/spare 15-rd mag. And when I get in deep doo-doo there's an 18" Maverick 88 w/50rds of 000-buck in the trunk. |

Don't bother with a CCW. Get an RPG with thermobaric rounds and an M249 with 2 belts of tracer. The tracers will either light them up or set them running. The RPG is for drive-by dumbasses.

But hey, "you'll never get hurt here, don't carry." I know Oak Brook had A, as in one, shooting last December. Nothing in life is certain. People getting shot in Oak Brook is not a daily occurrence. It would not be national news if was a common occurrence. Oak Brook is in DuPage county. The Cook county sheriff was on the news when CCW became law. He stated his deputies would assume that anyone carrying with a CCW was a criminal and would be kissing the pavement and treated like a criminal until proven otherwise. It was understood you would be lucky not to get shot. DuPage is right next to Cook county and their attitude about CCW may not be much different. If you get caught carrying without a CCW you will go to jail. No ifs ands or butts about it. It will cost you a lot of money and maybe prison time. |

Quoted: Yup. Biggest threat there is the hordes of milfs, potential for a hangover, and a stomach ache from eating too much. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: This is the stupidest thread I've seen in a while. Yup. Biggest threat there is the hordes of milfs, potential for a hangover, and a stomach ache from eating too much. You are likely to feel like you were mugged but it will be the restaurant doing it. There are some very nice and expensive restaurants there. They are much more enjoyable when the company is picking up the tab. |

Quoted: Quoted: If you can't CC a handgun legally, don't. If the area looks too sketchy, don't get out of your vehicle. Think real hard about your worst case scenario in Cook County, and about being in a world of shit. Oakbrook is DuPage county. I think you're still screwed if you're from out of state and carrying illegally. When I'm traveling through Illinois, I gas up before I hit the state line, and drive straight through without stopping. Screw them and their "no reciprocity". |

That said.... The handgun you normally carry (excepting work) should be deemed suitable for wherever. Try to carry the handgun you would want to defend yourself with anywhere everywhere. Quick trip to the store or Chicago, no different. Just do it. |

Could you drive across the UP and down through Michigan or take the ferry from Manitowoc to Ludington? I'd be worried about getting hit in Illinois and having my vehicle disabled. You'd better go way around Chicagoland. Have fun at Camp Perry. |
