A first look has been revealed at what will be the biggest floating cesspool/disease carrier in the world when she debuts in 2024.

7,600? Yeah that sounds fun. It's a big ship but not really when you consider how many people are on it. Sounds fun, packed in like sardines in a sea of vibrant humanity.
Their renders show all these nice pool/lounge areas with a few people around, when in reality it's more like this. Hard pass: Attached File |

I would be interested if the passenger capacity was half as much and the price was twice as expensive with all other things unchanged.

23 loungers on deck
all "reserved" and empty for 6 hours by a book or a towel |

I love cruising but I think I will not be taking that ship. More than 7k passengers? Sure, big enough to spread everyone out across multiple decks etc.
Nah, I don't want to make reservations for shows, dinner, comedians etc. NCL's Breakaway class is about as large as I will do (4000). Bliss is a great ship and will be on it next month. |
|
Cruises can be really great, but you have to select the type of cruise carefully. I like to avoid screaming children, drunk spring break partiers, and fat/old people who jam up lines to everything. I would spend my money on a smaller ship where price keeps most of the low end people crowded into giant ships.

Just in time to be commandeered as a NYC illegals housing barge!

I've been on one cruise, and it wasn't so bad, but that was before COVID.
To get me on a ship of that size would require: All passengers >18 All passengers fit in the BMI "healthy" range All passengers at or above the median IQ for the state of embarkation But that's just me. |
|
Quoted: Quoted: The pictures make it look like a good time but I bet reality will have an extra 8000 people running around ruining it Exactly what I was thinking. Yep. Talka about false advertising. You know the passengers aren't going to look like that. The ship will weigh 250,800 gross tons when completed, and when it sets sail, it'll have an additional 1200 gross tons. |
|
Yeah, nah. Not a cruise guy but different strokes. Big damn ship.
|
|
Aww I thought the name of the ship was Behemoth.
That'd have been much cooler. Now it's just a floating Golden Coral/Walmart |

We did WotS on her third or fourth week when she was new earlier this year. Has a really good time, did not get sick, did not have a sweaty 300 lb hairy European in a Speedo rub up on me, did not have Golden Corral buffet, did not have screaming kids terrorize the pool.
Did have towels on lounge chairs at 6am with nobody until noon. Probably the only thing that annoyed me. Where don't you get that? |

Royal Caribbean (RCI) posted a video update showing progress on the ‘Icon of the Seas’ construction.
She is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and will be the first RCI cruise ship to be powered by LNG. The video showed the fitting of the LNG fuel tanks, weighing 307 tonnes and of 90 ft in length. RCI claimed that the two LNG fuel tanks are the largest in the cruise industry. In addition, ‘Icon of the Seas’ will use a shore power connection that removes emissions while berthed. She will also have advanced waste heat recovery systems fitted that uses the heat for energy across the ship. Link |

Someone should start a submarine cruise line for all of the arfcom basement dwellers.

I gotta think that's going to be like Chuck E. Cheese on the high seas.

I'll save my thousands of dollars and abstain from Norovirus, thanks.

View Quote Carnival pool staff will now place a label on a chair when people place items and walk away. Time limit is 45 minutes. They will take the stuff to the towel counter. I've seen it in action. Love to see peoples faces when someone is in "their" chair. Stuffs at the towel counter lady! |

If they had a Hedonism week sponsored by Wicked Weasel, I'd FO.

I went on a cruise ship a couple times, had fun but they need to eliminate the low income rooms. Lots of 3rd world looking/acting shit dwellers. They mostly confine themselves around the pool

Used to cruise 2-4 x a year before covid. Living within 45 minutes of two major ports gets me awesome last minute deals on all lines. Never liked the bigger ships. Doesn't feel like cruising at all. Largest for me are RCCLs Freeom class ships, NCLs Breakaway class and Carnival's Conquest class.
150k size seems to be the sweet spot for large enough to not be boring but not to large to no longer feel you are at sea cruising |
|
It's all good until you gotta get off the boat at the end of a week.
THE LINES. |

I enjoy cruises. Have did several of Carnivals - including one where we rented one of the nicer suites (we had 5 people, so the suite was not more expensive than 2 rooms). Only a couple of the suites in the video came close to comparing to the one we had on Carnival. Biggest complaint was they were ass backwards for the most part. They put the primary bed in the living room. Our carnival suit had a primary bedroom and 2 full baths. It also had full glass front view and a private side balcony with full windows and door). I don't recall if the main bedroom had it's own window and door to the side balcony.
What Carnival did not do is have different class tickets. You did not have to upgrade your ticket to use certain dining rooms. They scheduled dining well - we had our own table, the same table, every night - and never a wait for it. Sadly, cruise food is what it is. First cruise, there was usually 1 good entree on the menu. Buy the last cruise, it was hard to get excited about any entree. The new menu's best day was pretty much the old ones other days. Carnival does have exclusive dining, but that is access - it is not included. RC sounded the same. We always did dining room at night. Buffet had declined in quality worse than the dining rooms. For lunch, Guy's burgers were the best option - and they are not exceptional. |
